Dang, what a fantastic game! Just finished my first play-through (vanilla version) and I can't believe what I missed by not picking this up - full retail - when it was first released.

This game defines what the concept of gOg is about: getting these wonderful titles from the past, making them work on our hardware today, and pricing them to be accessible to nearly anyone.

Just... absolutely... wow!

Some games make me wish I could erase the memory of playing it from my mind so I can enjoy playing it fresh again! This is one of 'em :)

Didn't pick up a retail? What a shame.

I also missed the retail version when it first came out but was curious about the game for years until I picked it up on GOG during the summer sale.

I can't help but agree.

Picked this up at the Time Machine sale, and when I first started playing it, I was amazed. This is one of those games that I originally thought I didn't need in my GOG collection, now I think my collection just isn't complete without it. Still trying to play through the game, but so far I think it's amazing, and I can see myself replaying it at least once.

Amazing open world exploration is my main reason to like this game. On some occasions I don't really care about the mission objectives; I'm just having way too much fun. I'm overall quite impressed with all the detail in this game so far. It's just amazing to me that they were able to pull this off. Yet, even more Deus Ex lies ahead of me, as I continue to play through it...

One thing I'm not crazy about so far is the hacking, which seems insanely simple to me. I mean, you walk up to a computer or security terminal, all you have to do is press the "Hack" button and you're in. Also, this thing with multitools... Unless the bypass strength on something like a camera or keypad is infinite, all you have to do is use up 1 or more of those yellow multitool things that you collect, and presto. I don't know, I just wish there was more of a challenge to this gameplay element. Nothing major.

I bought it on sale, but did not have time to play it yet. I've played DE HR and what I heard, there are many references to the classic one. I really hope I will enjoy playing it :)

HR is definitely a worthy sequel! Also one of my favorites. It doesn't even come close to the original and it's not nearly as long either, but that isn't saying much considering Deus Ex is quite possibly the greatest video game ever made (and my first playthrough took ~40 hours!). Hope you saw all the endings!

I wonder why game developers don't put as much thought into their games now as they did in the days of Deus Ex. I suppose video games have just become too commercialized.

Well, if you have DE HR DC then the commentary mentions about additional city that was suppose to be in the game. But they didn't have time for it. That is the problem. Giving people limited time before starting the development of the game. Still, HR is awesome.

I also missed this gem when it first came out, and played it for the first time last year. It would take me far too long to put the experience into words, but suffice to say Deus Ex is indisputably in my top 10 favourite games of all time (and I NEVER make statements like that... well except for Ocarina of Time), and amongst my most powerful gaming experiences ever. If you've never experienced this masterpiece before, GET IT NOW!

It contains a clear guide of how to upgrade the visuals for maximum enjoyment on modern systems- absolutely essential, particularly considering the amazing New Vision texture mod that makes Deus Ex look, in my opinion, even better then the majority of contemporary releases today.

Don't get me wrong, the endings in and of themselves weren't bad. But the final room.... "choose your ending" thing. Had it not been for how excellent not to mention lengthy the game was, that ending would've been unforgivable.

True. They had a few ideas (along with walking around searching for some sort of tapes you could use in the final room instead of just saying like it was done in the final release). Unfortunately time was something they didn't have.

I hope I will be able to play the classic one soon : D

As long as they don't put a minigame for those... I really hate them.
