Hey guys,

Hope, anybody can help me. Today, i added this great game to my library, knowing that it doesn't sure, if the game runs on win8 . But trial and error has often worked well, especialy with GOG - games. In this case unfortunately not.

My system is a samsung notebook series 5, I5 and Intel 4000, Win 8 64,

The game runs without crashs but with a fps near 0, the vids, ironically, runs perfectly.

So I tried different ways to solve the problem, but nothing works. I tried to
- assign only one core to game.exe
- every possible well-known setting of graphics
- launch as admin and in different compatibilities
- search few hours in the www and in the GOG forum

I will try as next step to install a virtual box to run the game on a lower Windows, but maybe anybody has a better idea or another experiences with a VB or any other solutions.

Thanks for your help

Have you tried the solution described here (by Danny252)?
http://www.gog.com/forum/desperados_series/desperados_runs_slow_on_windows_7_x64/post6
Same Problem, Windows 8 64 bit, Graphics 1-4 fps.

Danny252's Trick working not, with dll game crash on start Windows Message "Program stopped working"..

I have tried: Compatibility, Admin, Danny252s Trick and no success...

GOG or anybody Can help us?
The same problem in my case. I guess there should be something that can be done to help this situation, so if anyone knows anything, please help us ;)
I have this problem either and don't know how to fix it. With Robin Hood is the same problem.
Same problem here with Win 8 64-bit. I tried the ddwrapper but it won't launch, as others have said. Also tried compatibility mode and installing somewhere other than Program Files folder. No dice.
Ditto, win8 1 fps...cant seem to find a solution.
tried installing dx9 which is backwards compatible but no change....

Sorry for my english
Here is the solution in two steps:

1) Please make sure that you use "Run as Administrator" to install and to start the game (right click on the shortcut or setup file and select "Run as Administrator").

2) Please extract the contents of the attached ddwrapper.zip archive to the game's "Game" directory (default: C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Desperados Wanted Dead or Alive\Game) and try to play it again.

Here is the contents, please download and follow the step number 2:

!!!!!!!!!!These files are different than those from Danny252, please use these files, not the ones from Danny252!!!!!!!!!!!

If the link does not work, please contact me at: kansurseal@centrum.sk

Hey guys,

Im new here, just since yesterday after I downloaded Desperados as I had a graphic bug - After I started a new game, I couldn't see much more than some people leaving long tracks (of themselves) when they moved...Im trying to solve this problem for 2 weeks now as Desperados is one of my favourite game.

I tried a lot to make Desperados work:
I downloaded the game via gog.com
I downloaded the two files listed here, thanks a loooooot ROSSIJA, you made my day!!
--> BUT. under Windows 8 it doesn't run for me. I had to install Vista via VirtualBox - there I it runs good for me. Of course I tried to play it via Vista and Windows 7 before, but without these 2 files? no way...

A bit complicated with VirtualBox, which is a bit irritating in use, but most of the time it works good, too.
Thank you! :)
you could try with Microsoft Application compatibility toolkit 5.6 :
search on google " Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit 5.6 download center en-us"
on microsoft server, link finish with "id=7352"
or Microsoft Application compatibility toolkit 6 , search "Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (ADK) for Windows® 8" on microsoft server, install only ACT6

in compatibility administrator 32bits
1 make a new custom database
2 click on the new database
3 click on "Fix"
4 name : like you want
5 program file location : browse for your Game Exe
6 next to "compatibility mode"
here add " 8And16bitAggregateBlts"
7 next to "compatibility fixes" :
here add
- 8And16BitTimedPriSync
- AccelGDIpFlush
- EmulateDirectDrawSync
- SingleProcAffinity (use only 1 core of cpu)
1 of this lines are probably useless "gdi?"

8 next to "Matching Information"
9 "Finish" for close this windows
10 then Save the database (left button on database name and Save)
11 Install the database (right button on database name and install)
12 launch the game

for return in normal state, before patch, you can delete this patch like other software, in Program and Features, with the name of the installed .sdb

with this, if i have sound problem with my AMD radeon hdmi driver, it's all ok with my realtek audio chipset (win8 64bits)

Thanks, it works on my w8 x64 :D
Only in the lowest resolution available in game, but I can live with that.
I hope, with Robin Hood it will work either. I'm going to check :)
