Two wins for me so far. Going to probably try Halfling Priest with Naga Cauldron soon.
Info about gods, items, etc available on the very polished wiki: http://www.qcfdesign.com/wiki/DesktopDungeons/index.php?title=Main_Page
Oddly enough, I can't find any gameplay footage for the Gorgon class. :-/
Elven Warlord
My first win on Naga City was mostly copied from JayPlaysGames:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZ77e5Nt9-E
Prepared Mystera for extra mana pool.
Schadenfreude, Whupaz, Reflex, Quicksilver potions.
Fireballs on Tower of Goo. Lots of Cydstep, but Burndayraz is clearly easier when it's just enough for a kill.
I did not get Refreshment for some reason. Piety was hard to come by. I also converted a lot early anyway and collected a lot of items for damage. A late conversion with Refreshment could have easily meant three extra Cydsteps, though, so look into that.
I think I took a pact, but it probably wasn't worth it.
Orcish Berserker
Taurog makes it possible to regen fight many bosses without using poison just by outscaling the bosses, but a conversion to Glowing Guardian is AFAIK the only way to deal with 75% physical resistance on the Tower of Goo boss (who also has lots of health). Between the four Taurog items and the Prayer Beads from 2-3 Cleansing buffs (for magic strike on Tower of Goo), inventory management can be a headache; I had to get Yendor *before* Keg of Health because I was out of small item spaces with just one large slot left. Glyphs were only used on the first floor, during which time I stuck to just a couple Taurog items. Mostly just Getindare was used.
The upshot to GG, though, is that Humility can help you regain your class %damage bonus against late in the game. GG doesn't give out much piety when you convert late and converting religions wastes half your piety, so I found it necessary to use Consensus (Pactmaker) to get my Humilty boon.
Inventory management is a headache for sure. I prepared a Compression Seal and an Alchemist's Scroll, and of course Perseverance Badge - this way everything is either tiny, or continues to grant its full benefit post-conversion. Quicksilver, Whupaz, Reflex, and Health potions. Taurog prepared, convert to GG when it becomes necessary to fight Tower of Goo. Attack boosters prep as well for tons of damage scaling. Bet on boss.
During exploration phase, I lucked into an early Dwarven Gauntlets. I tried to remember to take one mana potion per level before leveling (unless I needed a Health potion instead) for the Alchemist's Scroll. I got boxed in and was forced to waste Reflex Potion just to move forward, and I was forced to buy a Burn Salve when I was boxed in by red goos, as well, but the Alchemist's Scroll was happy enough in that case. The loss of Reflex Potion hurt, though.
Bosses were alright. I was able to time level-up heals to get rid of poison. Mana burn was irrelevant, and there were more low-level monsters than I had Curse stacks.
With a ton of health and damage, and pretty good resists, I was able to take down the last boss using only exploration and attacks. It was a lot easier than my Warlord final boss fight, but I did just barely scrape by a few mini bosses. I never had to desecrate, but once Aquiatas is gone, you don't really need MR that badly, and you could desecrate Binlor as a last resort; maybe Tikki Tooki. I didn't have to do either, but I had a couple close calls - I blame the Reflex Potion.
EDIT: Finally won with a third class. It wasn't easy!
Finally got third win, using Halfling Priest with Naga Cauldron. This was pretty tricky, and I can't guarantee I can replicate it. But I've gotten better at least. What's really weird about Naga Cauldron is that I can't imagine anyone *other than* a Halfling Priest using it. *Maybe* some other priest, like a Dwarf or Human. I mean, if you don't have Good Drink boon, then the cauldron overheal is likely to be mostly wasted, unless you need to land a hit on a boss who does 80-110% of your max HP as damage... Anyway, Halfling Priests have obvious synergy that make this goofy item work, though you have to work hard to get your damage up.
I went with Taurog, but I only took Blade early and farmed piety. Gylphs are just too useful, I found after a few failed runs. This time I spawned Armor in Floor 2 when I had expendable money and piety, and I think I spawned the Helm for Aquitas the mage. Every Taurog pickup was a tough choice, and often boss fight order came down to deciding whether I wanted a Keg, a Yendor, or a Taurog item. Getting the shops cleaned out early made Taurog more useable.
An early Balanced Dagger helped me save potions by being at a higher level when I entered the boss room. 7 with a level up ready to go, IIRC.
I used Apheelsik and Burndayraz a lot in the boss room, safely enduring the penalty. Tower of Goo spawned early, and Byceps + Apheelsik was actually enough to do it with just a potion or two. Excess mana went into fireballs. Luckily, Meatman was a separate wave, and he was a good candidate for further poison fighting.
Near the end, I had to convert to Earthmother to get rid of two Curse stacks from Tomithy Longdall. I had two more health potions left for the last fight, and less than 50 piety. Saving my health potions for when I wouldn't be cursed, I used up my piety on Death Protections before going Consensus --> Earthmother to remove curses, spawn plants, and stack Vine Form, leaving emergency piety for Clearance if needed. (I'm pretty sure you can only spawn plants for bonus piety once, and you want to have barely enough piety for Plantation when you do). With a couple potions left and good magic resistance, it was easier than I thought it would be. Just wore him down to 0 with health potion fighting, after which it became a lot easier - for each of his Death Protections, I could easily explore enough to heal faster than he could take an extra hit. I had 0-1 health potions left afterward. I forget.
I endured a few derps, too. Wasted fireballs on an enemy I ended up using Can of Whupaz on. I also wasted a fireball or two on an enemy who ended up healing it anyway. I think I converted Burndayraz to get an extra Death Protection when I was better of saving it for post-Earthmother Death Protection removals (and a later conversion to still get the health potion at the last minute). I had some black space and some leftover gold for desecrations if needed, but not much else extra. I probably could have converted a little more for an extra health potion too. This class/gods combo is probably consistently doable overall, but I'm not exactly there yet.
Unlocked class: Gorgon
Gorgon is pretty oddball in a lot of ways, but overall, a really cool multi-class Binlor poison monk sort of thing. Dwarven Gauntlets rock. (Martyr Wraps might be an option, but Dwarven Gauntlets are probably better overall.) Death Gaze isn't the same Death Gaze that your enemies have, oddly enough. The wiki says that when you attack an enemy below your deathgaze%, you get a free first strike doing only your base damage which is not subject to resistances - this seems about right as far as I can tell.
Knockback, stoneskin, fireballs, poison (on-hit!) and deathgaze can make for some fairly finnicky last-hit scenarios, but the available leverage is rather plentiful quite real overall.
