Johnmourby: ... they onlt offer one drivevr for my card and operating system. I downloaded it successfully and play Tourchlight 2 off it for a bit. I noticed no difference one way o the other..
I hope this means you can now tell me how I could check for OpenGL on my machine (I've tried the 'Search Files and Programs' search eninge in the Windows 7 Start launcher. that comes up with nothing) and if I don't have it (which seems to be the case) where I can download it from.
Well, as you used the site to download the driver (it will only offer one for your card and OS unless you use the archived and beta drivers option but you don't need to do that) and installed it, we at least know you have the latest drivers for your 660Ti. I hope this means you can now tell me how I could check for OpenGL on my machine (I've tried the 'Search Files and Programs' search eninge in the Windows 7 Start launcher. that comes up with nothing) and if I don't have it (which seems to be the case) where I can download it from.
Also, those drivers support OpenGL 4.4, so the necessary libraries are on your machine.
Just to double check, though, navigate to C:\Windows\System32 on your machine and you should find a file called opengl32.dll (well, as you say you aren't very tech savvy I'm guessing you have file extensions hidden so it will just say opengl32). If that file is there, which it very much should be, then OpenGL is present on your machine.
Looking at CDN_Merlin's reply, it might be helpful if you can take some screenshots of the Descent 3 launcher setup screen so that we can see what you are doing with it.
