Been trying to mess with the controls for a while, but the mouse sensitivity even when set to the lowest is too fast. After spinning like crazy, I'm feeling pretty nauseous.
Edit: I fixed the problem with the mouse sensitivity. Just adjusted it in Windows, unfortunately the game makes my stomach churn. Not going to be able to play this at all.

That's how the game is GOOD!
Yep, Descent is one of the very few games to give me motion sickness as well. Nothing crippling, but I need to keep my playtime limited. The problem is that the game is so durn good!
I had a lot of fun in multiplayer with this one back in the day. I loved those homing missiles! I distinctly remember one following an buddy through a door, the door closing, hearing the explosion, and then getting a kill notice!

Back when it was first released I remember there being a lot of problems related to Decent's ability to cause motionsickness . Though, there's really no way to keep this from happening completely. You might want to look around for some way to help with motion sickness and video games, but even then you're probably going to have to give your eyes a break every so often.
D2X-XL or Rebirth (or maybe both) have the ability to turn off the bobbing of your ship, this might help some people. In addition, spending some time working on coordinating sliding with the direction you're turning might also help keep your view and your stomach contents stable :-) For example, if you're turning right, I like to be sliding left, it makes for a wider turn. Lastly, turning off the auto-leveling feature might help since it eliminates uncommanded movement of your ship.
You guys may have just sold me on this.

That's too bad. It's a fantastic series. May want to try some general motion sickness treatments (pills, wristbands, etc.) - it's worth it!

You know, there's a old joke that Descent was a subtle marketing tool for Dramamine.
I would highly recommend Descent, it is up there with X-Com and Civilization as one of the greatest games ever made in my opinion :-)

how dare you put X-Com or Civ with Descent in one sentence :D that's like putting Jesus and George Bush in a popularity contest :D
I never got motion sickness from playing Descent, although I have heard a lot of ppl do. Yeah, get some Dramamine or something, the game is definitely worth it.
When I first got Decent, back in the day, I was super excited, I had just upgraded my desktop (16 Mb ram FTW!), and this was going to be my first new game. 15 minutes in I thought I was going to throw up in the garbage can. That was the sad day I discovered that video games could give me vertigo. I never played Decent again; ended up selling it to my cousin.

Man, that sucks. It's such a good game. If dramamine works, totally worth it.
I've heard of motion sickness being onset by age. People who don't get it from games as kids wind up getting motion sickness from games as adults. What a sad fate...
I get a little motion sickness when I play this. It is annoying but nothing I can't handle. If you start feeling really dizzy I would recommend finding out how long you can play and just limit yourself for that long. If that doesn't work you can try and take something for motion sickness and then play all you want.
