When i try to check out my level in the game, i get the error message "error in mission file", i've checked all my settings etc and i can't see where i'm going wrong, i want to play test my level and can't, someone please help me, thanx, Suzukiman UK

Hey, right after a little digging about I think maybe you're storing your files as D2X-XL type.
Check your .mn2 file, and check if it says 'name= mission name' or 'd2x-name = mision name'. If that's the case, change 'd2x-name' to 'name'.
Also when you make new levels make sure that you select 'Descent 2' at new level dialogue (Not vertigo or D2X-Xl level)
There is a rare error which might be causing the problem, but its to do with how Descent has been changed to run without a CD in the drive. Give what I've said a check over and I'll think of something else if its not working.
Hi, thanx for your reply, i didn't know how to look in the .mn2 file to check what you were saying, but i started a new level, making sure it was definately a Descent 2 level, and it worked!, i can now build my own levels, so thank you very much for your help, i don't suppose you know where to find a good level building guide do you?, take care, Carl.

I would recommend this place, its a great place for getting starting. Also if you mark this topic as solved on my post, other people with the same issue can follow it to here.
