It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Hi there, if I use OpenGL, the screen will often go black when loading a new area or changing setting. On Direct X the menus are unreadable and I get a lot of graphic glitches. I tried the unofficial 1.5 patch which did nothing at all. The game will also not let me set up 32Bit colour.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I'd update your video drivers and 32 bit doesn't work.

My video drivers are already updated.

Have you run the D3 setup in the launcher? Have it auto detect your settings.

Of course.
hmm,

Try reducing some of the effects like AA and AF in the Nvidia control panel before starting the game.

Actually you should probably try downgrading your video card drivers. Newer drivers often break compatibility with older games. If you are not using them to play the newest of games, drivers closer to the game release date usually work better, in my experience. (Although you should not have to go back quite that far, just roll back to last year or so)

As for 32-bit color, I could never get that working back in the day.
32 bit is broken in D3. Always has been.

You can try older drivers but I'd change some settings in your current ones before doing that as it may also affect current games.

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately my video card is too new of old drivers. I can get the game to work with a bit of tinkering, but not with 32Bit colour. Well I can in Direct 3D but then bye bye readable menu.
Forget about 32bit. It doesn't work in Descent 3. Direct 3D sucked and openGL is the best way to go.

Also, ,make sure you have the 1.4 patch.

The gog version comes with 1.4, do you mean 1.5?
No I meant 1.4.

Hmm, it's really puzzling as I've got D3 1.4 and it works fine. Mind you mine is the store bought original version from 1999.

Did you have the Launcher detect your Video options?

Another place you can ask for help is at the official D2 BB at www.descentbb.net

Same problem here. Windows 7 64 + Nvidia GTX 560 Ti

This is my first purchase from GOG and I'm not impressed. It actually doesn't seem GOG did anything to make this more compatible than the retail CD.
