Hey,
1) Is there a mod that updates the graphics for the GoG Descent? A long time ago (1999, last millenia) somebody (well, Duane Johnson) released an OpenGL mod for Descent on the Mac, and it rocked! I dug out my CD, and looked at DX-Rebirth, but it didn't update the graphics (i.e., still blocky). Just wondering...it is on sale, so I'll likely get it anyway...

2) Was the issue with the Mac music download ever solved? I read that people were getting errors trying to download it. The Mac music rocked (literally!) and again, it would be great to have that...

TIA!
1. Yes there are two...DXX-Rebirth and D2X-XL. There's been alot of flame going on between the two, so I'd suggest googling both of them and checking them out for yourself :)

And 2. ...I'm honestly not sure...sorry :/
1. YOU HAVE TO CHANGE THE SETTINGS IN REBIRTH :-/ I think it defaults to NOT smoothing pixels. In the "Graphics Options" menu, you need to select the Trilinear option (or at least not the "classic option). After doing so, it looks quite nice :)

2. The MAC music downloaded without error for me. I downloaded it about a week ago. I have listened to it and there are not problems. For some reason I prefer the midi, though...it has a campy charm.

Thanks! I should have figured I would have had to change a setting...I was just shocked when it didn't automatically smooth everything.

Re: music...some music is better with MIDI...honestly, I never played the DOS game, just the Mac game, so that music is what I am familiar with.

Talk about retro...in the Read Me it says minimum requirements is a "386 chip" LOL...just goes to show the old adage about gameplay v. graphics.
