Is it just me or is the mine maze puzzle from chapter 2 broken in the GOG version of the game? It doesn't matter what lever combination I choose in the control center, the cart always does exactly the same thing. The only way to progress in the game is to press the skip button and skip the whole puzzle.

I've read that there was apparently some problems with that puzzle in the old version of the game, but they should be corrected in the latest version.
I downloaded GOG version like a day after it was available here and was able to finish it.

It really wasn't my type of puzzle, though. Have you tried this combination?
I'm using the patched version of the game (GOG released a patch to correct a problem with missing audio files), don't know if that patch has something to do with this. It's as I said: no matter what combination I choose, the cart always does the same thing. In fact, at one point, after randomly trying different combinations to see what was wrong with the game, I actually triggered the cutscene in which Rufus runs over the Deponia soldiers (which should only appear once the puzzle is solved), but after that it went back to the control center, as if nothing had happened. So the only way to progress was to click the Skip button.
I see :(. The update summary seems to confirm that.
I skipped that puzzle, because even when I had the cutscene that I did it right I was ending at the same place where I started.
Exactly. The puzzle is broken in the current GOG version. And, according to that update summary, the puzzle should be fixed with the latest patch.

Read it closely. It says "users should skip the mine maze minigame to move past the issue spot."

It's not fixed.
It says the following:

"Fixed Issue #6: Mine maze / Chapter 2
Description: Problem with slow CPU PC systems that are not able to finish the mine maze in chapter 2 has been fixed. Users whose PCs suffered from this issue should skip the mine maze minigame to move past the issue spot.

The first sentence suggests that the puzzle has been completely fixed, although the second one kind of implies the opposite. Anyway, I guess they must have fixed something, or it wouldn't be included as a fix in the changelog.
What exactly is considered a "slow CPU" because I have C2D @ 2.4GHz and it's not cutting it. Had to skip the puzzle. The game works well otherwise in full HD...
I managed to solve it and continue with the patch installed.
True, I kind of guessed and didn't know what I was doing.... buuut I solved it. =]

Post specs, please.
Operating System: Windows 7 - 64 bit.
Processor: Intel (R) Core (TM) i3 CPU. 540 @ 3.07Ghz
installed Memory: 4,00GB
GPU: Ati Radeon HD 5800 Series

Will that do?

Thanks!
For reference, I have an Inter Core 2 Duo T9300 @ 2.50GHz, 3 GB of RAM, GeForce 8600M GT, and the puzzle doesn't work for me (I get turned back at the first fork even if I nominally solved it, cutscene and all).
I have Windows 7 64 bit, 4GB of RAM and Radeon 5770. So it's not that much differnt specs to what Senteria has. My problem is the same as yours Starmaker, the moment the view switches to overhead the car is almost at first junction, and it gets turned back. Puzzle ends in just 2 seconds or so and I'm back at the switches again...

I've played many other games in full HD on my PC and while it's not enough for 60FPS in 1920x1080, I never had any serious problems. It seems weird that an adventure game would fail - seems like they need to make a proper fix for this issue.

Well, I did manage to overclock my C2D to 3GHz before, maybe I could try that...
