I don't know what possessed me to buy this this morning seeing as very few people seem to like it and even those who do admit it is a little heavy on the camp and the cleavage, but I just wanted to chime in here and say that I LOVE THIS GAME!

That first level alone; I feel like a fetish hooker exploring a dungeon designed by MC Escher. It would seem the mother ship had called me home. :D

Got it yesterday as it was on sale.
Most horrible game on the PSX period.

However someone posted a review titled "Better than PS1" so thought I would snag it while on sale.

It most definitely starts off different than the Playstation version and I'm wondering if there's also more content.

The level gimmicks/puzzles are very well designed.
Mostly what hurts the game is lack of a camera and the tank controls used in Resident Evil games.

Using crosspad (if using a game pad) works a bit better than analogue because turning left or right will often times be more intentional.

I'm wondering if a profiling software out there might be able to map Left/Right to Right analog and leave Left analog as only Forward/Back.

I'm using my Logitech rumblepad and it works great MINUS the camera. I have a button on the pad to go into "look mode" but I need to use the arrows on the keyboard to actually look around. I can live with it because I sit so close to the pc but I would imagine it really sucks for some.

Ah ha, so you actually can steer your view around in Look Mode!

Definitely sounds like I'll be remapping my Logitech today.

First level has been quite fun so probably won't be uninstalling this for awhile anyway.

Ah well, sadly - After some time wasted I've found no way to turn off the games game pad auto-detection and so no mater what kind of mapping I apply the game insists on forcing the default setup on me.

Another game for the end of my backlog in the instance I somehow ever become immortal and I am all out of good games to play and have gone desperate enough to do the arthritic WASD thing.

So well, I played a ton of that game on the Playstation, and went for the discount on gog cuz it was on my wishlist. Like you describe, it's the odd gamepad control scheme. I don't understand how they didn't managed to port a good working scheme from console over to PC. Many of the available buttons on the gamepad I try to use aren't available to bind. For example trying to put the movement to the d-pad: It just doesn't recognize the d-pad even though windows does. This increases the difficulty to play the game to a whole new level if you're used to the "okay" PS controls. The game got an inventory, and neither on the keyboard nor the gamepad setting can this button be assigned. It's a weird mess. And thanks to the low games popularity, no solution available.
Because it's a PC game, not a console port but both, PC and console versions were made in the same time and while PSX one was released first but wiith cut content and downgraded features + different textures, PC stayed faithful and unchanged to shape it was originally made, kind of director's cut style with all bad and good moments...

Faithful, yes. But no excuse why PSX got a perfect gamepad control scheme and PC doesn't.

think I'll redownload this myself. Never played it all the way through.

Wonder if there is a widescreen fix.

I forgot how to swing the damn sword. lol
Halfway through (on a disc copy) and yeah, while it may not be a great game, what with the sometimes awkward camera getting annoying, but it's enjoyable enough to me and I don't think it deserves being regarded as "crap". As for "camp and the cleavage", poff, as if those are bad things. :P
This is a fun game. The controls aren't ideal but once you adapt to them and learn to use them, they are not a problem. Far from the worst on the Playstation. And the kind of people who criticize entertainment if it contains any sexual imagery are the kind of people who should be ignored.
