thank you for the topic and the links. for my win8.1 I just installed the few mods and don't need to use compatibility modes. Framerate is as it should be. Only weird thing is when I use the controller to play after choosing that option fromt the starter program, I get this wonderful spinning camera thingie. Supposedly it can be fixed by changing the buttons in the fix's .ini file. Just wish I'd know what to write in that file. Other option suggested by someone with a similar problem was to use something called joyToKey. Just glad the game works, too lazy to fix the buttons at the moment :)

The DPfixKeys.ini included in this mod is listing the available keys/buttons, but the correct names of the action are not listed. How am I supposed to change keys that way? Does anyone have a list with the availble actions?

Can someone help me with Deadly Premonition? I just downloaded the DPfix and everything appears to be running fine but I'm playing via a PS4 controller and once the game proper starts the camera won't stop spinning. I keep trying to figure out how to map the controls properly to the sticks including the dpfix .ini file and the settings in the DP launcher. Any advice?

Good grief, this game...!

On my desktop (Win Vista 64), it simply crashes after the initial cinematic. On my laptop (Win 7 64), it loads, but the text is screwed up. After looking through some forums, I tried installing DPFix, which I heard helped others with similar corrupted text problems- only now, no matter what variables I put into the file, it still insists on running in a window (with attendant slowdown to the point of unplayability.)

I had heard the game was quirky and occasionally awkward, but I was willing to give it a chance. But the sheer amount of work that seems to be necessary just to get it to RUN properly... Work that really ought to have been done by its developer before releasing it in this form... Begins to feel downright insulting.

I grew up rejiggering AUTOEXEC.bat and CONFIG.sys files to make software run, or run more effectively, but this software refuses to even meet you half-way with some idea of what might be going wrong.

Thank you for this! Now if we could just make the game run reliably!!!
