Greetings all,

I seem to have stumbled upon a rather persistent problem with my copy of Deadly Premonition. Every time I try to boot up the game, this message pops up:

Command=D:\Program Files\GOG\Deadly Premonition\dp.exe-fullscr Message=%1 is not a valid Win32 application.

As of yet I haven't figured out a way to do something about this error message. Is there any way to solve this issue?

When I try to start the game, it shows a dp.exe error. I already installed the physx dll, so I don't know what's the matter. I will ask for a refund if this game keeps crashing on start up.

Have you tried searching the Steam forums for this too? They seem to receive more activity, though there's a fair amount more to wade through because of that. However, you may have a better chance of finding someone encountering your same problem there.

The only advice I can think of aside from this for you is, if you haven't, possibly trying to run it in a different compatibility mode by right clicking the icon and going to the compatibility tab. I've read of some users resolving some of their issues by running it in compatibility mode for XP, albeit to what extent they're being honest, it's hard to say, and even if they are, it may not work for your system configuration.

Neo, as to your problem, my first piece of advice is the same, with my second piece being perhaps to double check that your drivers are completely updated. With this game, though, it's hard to say whether that's enough.

I wish you both the best of luck in resolving your issues! This game is really worth the trouble, in my opinion, especially on the PC side since you can, once you get it working, really improve the look of the game even more than it already has been through the port.

Edit: Another thought occurred to me, and this may seem bizarre and slightly inconvenient, but you might try restarting your PC. For those that have the game working, this removes framerate issues, yet it may also serve to simply make your copies work at all. I can't guarantee that will be the case, but it's certainly worth a shot, I'd say.

Hi, how are you? Thanks for your kind reply. Well, after some research I found out that my game was crashing because the dpfix I previoulsy applied. It seems noy all versions of that fix work fine with this game. So, I reinstalled the game without the fix and was able to play. Anyway, it's a pity I can't play with enhanced features. Maybe should I try an older version of the fix? It seems sometimes it works.

I guess it depends on which version of the patch you have installed (current version probably works only with newest Steam patch that's coming to GOG soon according to Judas).
I'd suggest:
- Checking if joystick option in the DPFIX configuration file is set to 0 if you're using GOG patch.
- Trying older version; still, make sure joystick is disabled in DPFIX configuration if you're using the patch.

If you are not in an administrator account, right-click the installer and run that as an administrator so that it can create the required temp files during the installation. This resolved it for me.

Same here, even days ago was working fine... Now its impossible. I can't ask for a refund now :/
Try setting your screen resolution to 1280x720 before you start the game. Maybe it's just me being lucky, but that was all I had to do to get it running.
