Thanks for the offer but I'm currently not looking for donations. This is just a hobby project and I'm not looking to make money out of it.

Also thanks for testing Nox. Unfortunately the fix DDrawCompat uses for that game no longer works on Windows 10, but perhaps you're not experiencing any issues because you're using some alternative fix (like Win 98 compatibility mode).

ghotik2002: Hi, Narzoul, I'm GHO and I was particularly interested in your improvement about Deadlock 2.
Let's discuss it on SF forums, I don't think this is the best place for posting lengthy development details that don't interest most end users.
The final v0.2.0 version is released now, so I have removed the preliminary v0.2.0pre release.
There aren't really any improvements for Deadlock 2 in it, but it should function just as well as the preliminary release did. If that's not the case, please let me now.
THANK YOU!
For my Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium this worked perfectly!
Right now Deadlock 2 is running in the background. :-)
So thanks a lot for posting this fix. The game now works in Windows 10.

narzoul: Newish DirectDraw wrapper: DDrawCompat

Instructions are in the readme on the linked page.

Quoting myself from another post:

"Unfortunately it seems that in v0.1.2 I partially broke the mouse cursor (leaves trails on the help screen), so I recommend using v0.1.1 or v0.1.0 for now.

Other than that, the only issue I've noticed is that occasionally the game locks up at the start of the intro video. If this happens, just press Ctrl-Alt-Del and kill it from Task Manager, then try running it again."

So far it works for me on Windows 8.1 and for another user on Windows 7, but one user reported having black screens everywhere instead.

Update: v0.2.0 fixes the mouse trail issues, Windows 10 compatibility and some other problems, so I recommend using this version now instead of the older ones.

If this fix doesn't resolve the problems for you (or causes more), please post the following info:
- Windows version
- Graphics card(s) in your system
- Any compatibility settings already applied to the game and whether you're running the game as an administrator
Great job, thanks a lot
Works as advertised in Windows 10 after adding ddraw.dll to the game binary directory. Thanks for the fix!
Great fix, Deadlock 2 now runs flawless so far under Windows 7!
Thank you SO much for this. Game works perfectly now on 64 bit Windows 10.

THANK YOU!!!
I used the fix and it worked, for about 40 turns, then the game just crashes when I click "end turn". It does it every time, so something happens between turn 40 and 41 that it just isn't fixing.

Running it on windows 10 64bit. Windows isn't much help on saying what exactly crashed, just two messages telling me to close the program. I do have the game saved on turn 40, and every time I go to restart them game it just repeats the crash.

If you can upload that save somewhere I will take a look at it.
sure thing, I'll throw it up on google. The save is from a Shrine Wars Campaign. I did try altering some options to try and figure it out myself. Tried running game as admin and without admin, tried turning off the events before each turn incase it was a random event that caused it, nothing.

I can reproduce the crash with your save. I took a quick look with a debugger, but I'm afraid it's not a graphics related crash. It happens without DDrawCompat also. Apparently it's a null pointer error in some internal game logic having to do something with unit movements, judging from some nearby debug strings.

Sorry, there isn't much I can do about this. My only advice is to load an earlier save if you have one, otherwise you'll probably have to restart the level. I tried destroying all your buildings and units but even that didn't seem to avoid the crash at the end of the turn.
Alright, thanks for checking into it. At least I know it isn't related and hopefully just a freak error. I just never seen it do that even on windows XP/7 or even the original CD version on Win95/98. It was always the CPU speed or right clicking units that crashed the game back then. I think I'll just restart the whole level over and hope it doesn't happen again.
I also had the issue where Before moving the mouse, i'd technically be able to see the screen. After I move the mouse it'd all turn black.
Now with the .dll file added to the game directory ir technically works, only so far that the screen remains black while the cursor is in motion, and reappears when it stops.
While the cursor is moving though, my second screen flashes constantly. Luckily I'm not epileptic.
Would you predict a fix for this? or I might just uninstall and refund it

So far I can't reproduce this on Windows 10 with a dual monitor desktop setup (NVIDIA + Intel HD).

Could you give some more information on your setup?
- What version of Windows?
- What version of DDrawCompat?
- Is it a laptop or desktop PC?
- Do you have any compatibility setting enabled for the game?
- What kind of GPUs do you have and how are they connected to the monitors?
- Is your display settings set to "Extend these displays" or some other value?
- Which monitor is set as primary? Does the game display on that and flashes on the other, or is it the other way around?
- Are you running any other external tools that may interfere with graphics, like FRAPS or MSI Afterburner?

The obvious possible workaround that comes to mind is to disable one of the monitors while playing. Have you tried what happens if you set your display settings to display only on one monitor? If that doesn't help, could you try physically disconnecting one of the monitors (the video cable, not the power plug)?
