I have a very bad feeling I've made a mistake. My Graphics are ATI Radeon HD 4200. Is that inadequate to run Dead State? There is a huge amount of Mouse Lag in the game. Thanks.

I tried the "Jittery Mouse Movement" fix in the Troubleshooter, and it didn't help at all.

Also, at the very start of the game, the text suggests that I try moving around. I left click on the mouse, and my charachters legs start moving like he is running, but he won't go anywhere! No matter where I click on the ground, he just stays in place, running!

Very disappointed. This looked like it could have been a great game.

It could indeed be your card. Try switching off Vertical sync and AA and reduce graphic settings. Test repeat.

Thank you. I know pretty much nothing about computers. My question was really whether or not my specific card meets the Minimum Requirements listed for the game. I generally rely upon the online utility "Can You Run It" to detarmine such things, but Dead State is not in their database.

As for your suggestions, vertical synch and such.....well, those things are pretty much meaningless to me.

Vertical sync is in your Dead State graphic options and has been known to slow down games in the past. However I am not the game maker, just using the little knowledge I have about pcs. Also updating any graphic card drivers is always a good thing to do.

You really should try learning a little about this stuff as its pretty basic, especially if you plan to game on a pc a lot.

Thank you. My basic question still goes unanswered. I do not understand the names and numbers given to Video Cards. I need to know whether or not my Video Card meets the Minimum Requirements for this game.

As for Graphic Options in the game, I opened it up, and it is a bunch of gibberish words that mean nothing to me, with NO clue whatsoever the effect that will occur if and when I change something.

The box next to "Vertical Synch" is UNchecked.

Why should someone have to learn to be a computer technician just to get a game to run? This is supposed to be FUN, not frustrating work.
It`s not computer technician stuff. This is the very basics that anyone with a gaming pc needs to know or you will forever have trouble with pc games.

Just type in your browser `Dead state specs`.

I got:
Pentium D830 830 3,0ghz or Athlon 64 X2 duo core. Minimum.

Graphic cards: Geforce GT 230 or Radeon X800 XT. Minimum.

2 GB ram required.

1.4 GB Harddisk space.

How difficult was that? The first line of a list showed me the specs/ Was that so hard to figure out? Or you just want someone to do the simple work for you?

I tapped in the name of your card and got this:
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/314828-31-integrated-radeon-4200-graphics-card-good-gaming

I know you are frustrated. But all you need to do is very basic research.

To sum it up, your graphics card appears too weak. that`s all the research I`m willing to do for you. I might be wrong I haven`t checked the rest of your laptop details. You need to do the rest for yourself. It will help you in the future.

You should be able to manage this game on the integrated ATI HD 4200 series.

ATI have an annoying tendency to name their newer low end cards with higher numbers - even if the performance is the same or worse as an older series card.

Take the minimum requirement for Dead State a HD 7290 - which is similar in power to a HD 6290 or HD 4250 !

Your HD 4200 is more than capable of playing a surprising number of games - albeit at lower settings.

You can try updating your video card drivers from here:
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download

The picture I've attached shows you the correct selections.

Forget about playing the game at 720p / 1080p with max quality options.

You'll more than likely be stuck with a resolution of 1024x768 or below.

Do you have another mouse you can try? Is a touchpad interfering with the mouse?

If you still can't get satisfaction - I'd consider making use of the GoG 30 days refund:
