Hi all,

We've uploaded a new patch to your game shelves called "Patch 1.0.0.281". Please download this patch in order to get the latest and greatest version of the game :)

Changelog:

Added Iron Man mode! A true test of survival! All saves are disabled except for a daily autosave and a resume point when you quit the game. Whatever happens, happened. No take-backs.

See our design notes below the changelog about separating Iron Man mode from difficulty settings and player infection.

Added new undead type: crawlers! Seems some people got pretty messed up before they turned. These mangled dead dudes and ladies have a nasty Trip Attack, so keep one eye on the ground at all times.

Added movement and activity to the Shelter! Everyone in the Shelter now moves around to different locations when assigned to work. If you forget where to look for someone, remember to check the Shelter summary screen with the ‘H’ hotkey or double-check the job board.

Added custom portrait editor! You can now create your own unique portrait by selecting hair color, hair style, eye color, facial hair, tattoo, and more. We’ve also added a couple nifty features we felt were missing from the typical portrait creator: loading a previous portrait to work from, and undoing changes you’ve made.

Added looting of KO’ed characters! Want to knock somebody down, steal their stuff, and leave them for the undead to finish off? Now you can!

Changes to Parisa!:

Added new discussion topic options in Shelter

Added new dialogue

Added new character perk choice

See our design notes below the changelog about the changes to Parisa’s storyline.

Changed noise-activated spawn behavior. Adjusted likelihood of spawning an undead at different noise levels, and undead spawns from noise become more likely over time.

Balanced the distribution of items required for upgrades.

Added five new levels.

Improved grenade and molotov code.

Added Fortify skill on Riot Shield. Now you can end your turn early for a +10 AC boost to your defence.

Fixed several combat AI related exploits. Enemies will now chase you around corners and through doors, and combat will no longer end if line of sight is broken temporarily.

Improved undead mobbing behavior, added a mob bonus to undead grapple attack when in groups.

Fixed human AI to make KO’ed enemies the lowest priority target for humans.

Fixed an issue where humans-turned-undead did not drop weapons.

Fixed an issue where Doug sometimes disappeared for a while before waking up.

Fixed an issue with Shelter inventory ignoring maximum weight.

Fixed a bug that allowed characters to equip stacks of items from Shelter inventory.

Fixed exploit to bring dead characters back to life in combat.

Fixed an issue where Survival bonus was lost on area map when travelling from a map other than the shelter.

Fixed a bug with Unity perk.

Fixed cases of recruiting dead allies again.

Fixed cases of being unable to attack neutral NPCs.

Added appropriate SFX to car gates and roll-down doors.

Fixed issue where Chemist perk cancelled Unity perk.

Fixed some bugs related to Team Effort and Unity.

Fixed issue where Pumped and Aimed status were not applied if the job carried over into the next day.

Improved some maps.
Adjusted nailgun stats.

Thanks and have a nice day :)
Thanks, Judas! And Double Bear, too! Glad to see such a significant update.

Thank you very much! I hope DoubleBear didn't take that threat to kick them in the testicles seriously ;)
Fixed human AI to make KO’ed enemies the lowest priority target for humans.

Wow some great changes here! They actually fixed the KO issue where the AI becomes obsessed with killing the KOed person even when greater threats were around! I complained about that in my review.

Many things in this patch makes me happy, including iron man.

Many things make me scared like this:

Improved undead mobbing behavior, added a mob bonus to undead grapple attack when in groups.

That`s scary man.

I think I will start a brand new game! :)

How often do you get mobbed by zombies? Never happened to me as I just run around taking them out one by one. In rare occasion where I have to deal with larger mobs, I position my people in line side by side (in narrow place if possible) limiting the possibility of getting anyone surrounded or being attacked from multible directions.

You just run them around? You mean you`ve never run around a corner into 3 or 4 scavengers, start fighting them and then zombies arrive? And even more arrive?

Or have you been to one of those deserted hospitals? I bet you never dared just run around them because you`ll get trapped quite easily and mobbed.

Or what about when you go into a room and two zombies attack and while dealing with that, more attack from outside?

I doubt you`ve played that much of the game.

50 or so game days, all except militia hq, refinery and military base cleared. Equiped with Tactical Vest Advanced, Combat Helmet, Tactical Arm Guard, Tactical Leg Protector, Riot Shield and Electric Baton (6 attacks per turn with 10 agility) I'm pretty much invulnerable to all damage except from sniper rifles and assault rifles. Last time I had serious drouble was the mercenary hotel some 20 days ago (partially due to those damn clitchy stariwells with my people spawning inside the stairwel doors so enemy could see them but rest of my team could not see the enemy).

I pretty much soloed (left rest of my team outside) the Hospital with the exception of the military squad that spawns outside when you're leaving. Heck I even soloed the bunker under the military base. See enemy, run to him, start combat before they react, 95% of the time enemy ko'ed or dead after 6 hits (EB has high change of causing KO), rinse and repeat. There's barely any noise so none of the other zombies/npc's wake up/agro.

When I said run around, I ment the above. I start by scouting around, taking out any lone zombies, then clean all outside areas before moving to clean buildings. Zombies are lauchably easy. I managed to spawn a horde of 20+ zombies intentionally causing as much noise as I could in a warehouse map. I simply formed a line whacking them as they came (taking couple steps back each turn to avoid corses from piling up) and was undamaged in the end. Once you've found some armor, only their bite attack can cause any serious damage and they rarely use that unless they start turn next to your character. And unless they changed it with recent patches, zombies can not attack diagonially I was still using 1.0.0.48 last I played (starter playing wasteland 2 few weeks ago, DS is on hold for now). Got bored just harvesting/fishing, seeking random encounters and building stuff I never use at shelter (until endgame or if I decide to wipe out the militia. Most of the armor is too heavy to needlesly carry around).

So not quite as simple as just running around them like you said. I use some of those tactics too. And you can still get mobbed if not careful.

But I do not believe you have never got in danger of being mobbed. In fact, i`ll bet you have been mobbed at least once, but probably reloaded.
