I was trying to run the game. I have Windows XP SP3. I downloaded game via gog downloader. I receive error 'not a valid win32 application' upon running after installation. Is this software 64-bit only?

It says it is XP compatible but considering how crappy and old it is, expecting it to run under 64 bit is a bit of a push. I'm sure someone will be able to help you out.
If you go to Double Fine's system requirements page

http://support.doublefine.com/knowledgebase/articles/862476--dott-pc-minimum-requirements

you will see that XP is not listed - minimum is Windows 7.

Steam page will confirm that, but I think when I checked the Steam before it also listed XP SP3.

So did the GOG page.

GOG page still lists XP as valid system.

Probably, the GOG's page now lists only Win7 through 10 as valid OS'es.

I can confirm that it will not work for me on my Vista computer but is fine on 7. It installs fine, but gives a DEP error. When I try to disable data execution prevention on the exe, it tells me the game cannot run with it off.
Same problem as above. Game installed but will not run - comes up with "DOTT has stopped working. Windows will close the program and inform you if there is a solution to the problem." Needless to say no solution has so far been forthcoming.

I am running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit with 8GB RAM. Any ideas anyone?

This topic is about running it on XP/Vista.
For your problem, see: https://www.gog.com/forum/day_of_the_tentacle_remastered/will_not_load
Try installing the latest driver for your graphics card.

Thanks so much. It took me a while to work out how to do it, but finally managed to update my Nvidia driver to the latest version for my graphics card and it now works perfectly - brilliant! I'm off to play....

The game isn't XP compatible - well... at least not out of the box. The error message is related to this article:

https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/linking-applications-using-visual-studio-2012-to-run-on-windows-xp

But according to this blog post:

http://www.tripleboot.org/?p=423

... it's actually possible to patch such an executable, to make it run under XP without any problems. This does work with "Day of the Tentacle Remastered" too:

● first of all, make a backup of your Dott.exe
● then open your original Dott.exe into a hex editor (like HxD, Hex Workshop or similar)
● replace the first instance of the hex value 06000000000000000600000000000000 with 05000100000000000500010000000000 (there should be only one instance in the whole file)
● replace the hex value 4765745469636B436F756E743634 with 4765745469636B436F756E740000 (only one instance too)
● save the changes

That's it. The game should now run under Windows XP SP3. I tried it myself and finished the play-through under XP without any problems at all...
