How do you manage to starve to death while standing next to a supply tent full of food? My villagers do it each winter. What am I doing wrong? Any ideas?

No idea, I never had that problem.

I do have it with hipotermia tho, villagers will die next to tent, or start jobs that will force them to travel really far away (like mining) when they are already cold, so they'll just die far from the village.

Plus I am running out of animals to hunt for hides, so I can't keep up with building and unkeeping
I have another problem. The game doesn't report enough food, while I keep seeing messages about decayed bread.

When I start building stables from the 4th or 5th and placing goats in them, they reproduce so quickly that my straw does not last through the winter. If I plant more grain to get more straw, my villagers are overworked. Not having enough straw leads to goats dying, pigs dying, sheep dying, donkeys dying, etc. in the next winters.
If the Raiders don't kill me, then my animals will do xD
Starvation problems occur while doing tasks far away.

If you're having straw problems, you can limit the animals to 20 for example. Planting Barley also helps, since that gives one extra straw per unit of grain.

My main problem is with happiness: those stone circles should replenish it quicker IMO. Worshipping also doesn't work properly.
It could be that your villagers travel far to get the resources you ordered them to gather. On their way home they begin to starve. By the time they reach the food with their hands they might die in the village, or even die on their way to the hut with food in their hands. This happens to me sometimes. I currently have 80+ people in the village. I have researched all technologies and went through all the ages, and so far only few people have died of starvation, despite having the abundance of food. I don't think it was a bug, just a basic game mechanics. Make sure you don’t send your people too far from the village/s.

Not that I know of. Try out watching some gameplay videos on YouTube. There are older older uploads from the beta testing period. On the surface level I would not say that beta looks much different than the final release.

I have noticed that when they have to work a lot or carry heavy resources by hand morale goes down very quickly. It is good to have transportation equipment. Also you need variety in spiritual "structures" because as it is written in ingame help they cannot pray at the same type of building too often.
