I can never seem to keep a stable balance in my bank account. I kill ever monster loot every room and aside from the occasional special item i take back to town, I can only seem to just scrap by.

What am I doing wrong?

Another way to gather extra cash is to play a Thief, and use her "Steal" skill to get items from monsters. Best to have the Berserker spell to bolster your health while you're doing it.

Make sure you're repairing up any items you're going to sell, so you get full value for them.

Barrels, boxes, and chests on the surface carry far more gold than in the dungeons, so be sure to explore thoroughly.

You can re-start the game with the same character, so build up your gold by clearing out Ardyl a couple of times before "really" starting. WARNING: Make sure you're packing all your gold, and items on your person before doing this!

I start a new game with my main character and create another one (mage), in town I get the money and book from the mage to my inventory and then repeat it many times, I can get about 3K each time, just sell all books.

There is a priest exploit.
The ressurection book the priest starts with is worth if i am not mistaken 16000 gold.
Just build a priest and a character and sell the priest book and give the other character the gold.
Quit , create a new priest and repeat until you get to desired gold.

There is a very simple way to make money by exposing a glitch( yeah it's cheating i know but it's fast) you need to get 10001 gold pieces and a full inventory.The gold should also be in your inventory Drop 10000 and replace the empty inventory slot with an item( like a potion or something) now pick up the 10000 gold pieces. You wont get it in your inventory but you'll see that your 1 remaining gold piece is now a stack of 10000. And you still have 10000 on the ground which means 9999 just came out of the blue. Now right click on the stack in your inventory and take out 9999 and drop them then pick up the 10000 stack again and you'll receive and additional 9999 gold pieces. Just repeat and you'll have all the money you'll need. Hope this helps

I just play the game and am a millionaire. Seriously, I don't understand how one can have financial trouble in this game. Just return to town once the inventory is full, identify and repair everything and sell everything you don't need. Especially selling scrolls seems to be a good source of income early on.

Who said anything about running? I'm using the Magic Door. I don't know what the chances are of obtaining the corresponding book but you can always use scrolls. Teleporting to town and back isn't much of a hassle, plus the frequent visits make sure the NPCs approach you with sidequests as soon as possible and you may catch a lot of good deals at the merchants.

Yes. I do use magic door, too. A lot of people hate going back to sell stuff. I get the thrill of raising my bank account, so I don't mind it at all. But lots of folks are used to auto-sell systems now.

It would have been great if in single player you could send your companion away for a minute or two and they'd sell everything and then come back. It would make a nice high-challenge moment and you wouldn't have to go back to town.

Nonetheless, it's not much of a problem. Magic Door scrolls and books abound. And by selling everything you grab, you end up with more than enough money to get what you need. But not everything you want.

Yeah, well, it's not quite that game generation, is it. :D I mean, Darkstone doesn't even have the chest yet, it's a pretty darn early Diablo clone. But frankly I just wish the inventory were a little bigger and maybe that there were traders outside of town.
