[url=/en/gamecard/darkstar_one][/url]You're a brand new Escort Pilot, fresh out of the academy, dreaming of long shifts guarding ore barges for a handful of credits. You look out the window and see this awesome, mean-looking ship and think to yourself "I would love to get my hands on that". Turns out you can and it's not just any ship. Over the course of your adventure you will be able (and encouraged) to upgrade it, also visually, turning it into an agile gunship, a turret-laden hulk or something in between. Also, since the controls are very intuitive, you don't have to be a Freespace vet to enjoy this game.

It's on my to get list. I rather enjoyed the demo, but never could find a retail copy.
The size concerns me a little due to local ISPs awful low caps and monthly limits. If a download fails, then: ack!
Is it just a single file, or is it split up like some other large sized games.

Good game but not great as Freelancer and Freespace series but if you like these games go and buy it. I finished the game and really enjoyed it.

The game is really cool, our testers were staying late after the working hours just to upgrade the ship with another laser cannon :).

Its a really cool game with easy controls and some excellant music. Graphics are also very good.
If i hadnt bought this on steam a while back i would have purchased this i may do later as Gog deserves the money.
One of the best space games avaliable.

I wouldn't really call it a space trading sim, it does have trading but it's a very basic buy low/sell high model and you can't really make much money trading unless you deal in illegal goods. In DS1 most of your cash will come from blasting pirates and doing missions (which mostly involve blasting pirates).
Anybody whose interested in playing a hardcore space trading sim should give the X series a try.

Another game that i already have. Bought a pack a couple of months ago called ascaron colections and it had DS!, sacred and port royale 2.

This is a good space sim for newbies, and it's pretty addictive as you keep getting upgrades and better stuff. Though it does get repetitive after a while - as someone with more experience with the genre, I would have liked more depth and variety.
But yeah, it's fun, pretty and big. Not really old, though. :)

I sure hope so, because I love Space Rangers 2 and I just bought Darkstar One from GOG. If it really is somewhat similar, I'm in gaming heaven. :-D
