I'm not sure if I installed the mesa mod properly as it does not seem to be working on the flak mission. I'm also not that savy with special computer files or anything so could someone please give me a step by step way on how to do this properly? It would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

This was taken form the mod description:
"When you get to the flak mission, just save and exit the game.
Than run the "Fixer.bat" file. It should tell you if the modification was successfull.
Now go back to the game, load the flak mission, finish it (it is now much easier) and save after it once again.
Now exit the game and run the "Fixer.bat" once more. And get back to your game."
Is that what you did ?
I seem to have a problem with the Mod myself.
Trying to complete the Pirates of Ta side mission, after gunning all the pirates down, the game doesn't seem to aknowledge mission completion. the Merc leader just stays idle, no reward nada. Jumping or docking results in mission failure so I am at a loss on what to do.
Is there a way around that problem?
Where can I get the Mesa mod btw?
http://www.skilldownload.com/ is offline and there is no download at moddb.
I have been bitten by this issue probably 2 or 3 times in the game.
The "Fixer.bat" installs a line of code : temp.number= 1
It is installed in the Lua/missions folder battlelibmod.lua file.
If you do not take it out (by running the Fixer.bat file again) it can cause problems with completing assignments in several places of the game. See the Flak Work around in this forum. It makes it so you don't fight ALL the pirates under normal game play and causes some kind of hiccup.
I personally just go in and comment the line out using dash delimiters, like:
-- temp.number=1 --
Supposedly if you run the Fixer.bat program properly it will do that for you (or something to that effect). You may need to play the mission through again after Fixer.bat removes the code line.

I can't seem to get fixer.bat to work. It says that it failed because the files are not in the right place.

I read that the fixer.bat and lua have to be put into the root ... well sorry but I don't understand what that entails as there is no file with the actual name of root (unless it is hidden) if you know or have some clue that would be awesome as I am stuck at flak 2.

I emailed the mod creator but to date I have had no reply.

I saw you online a moment ago and had to register before I could contact you. Sadly by that time it said that you were no longer online.

My email address is jdmutchl@yahoo.com to get me directly ...

Thanks.

Hello,

What did you use to edit the lua files as i can't seem to open them? I am stuck and fixer.bat won't run for me. as it says that the files are not in the right directory.

Please let me know. jdmutchl@yahoo.com

I never installed the mod myself so i don't know exactly where those files should go. I can tell you that root refers to a directory not a file.

In any case, if you can get fixer.bat to work check this post for a manual workaround for the flak mission.

You can open .lua files with Notepad or another text editor

Anyone ever figure out a way past the Pirates of Ta side mission problem? Also when playing DarkStar One with the Mesa Mod, when i find artifacts and nab em the game doesnt register that i actually have a artifact. Any suggestions?

Ah alright, awesome. Thanks.
Cant get this friggin Fixer.bat to work right. I leave it where Mesa Mod puts it, in my Darkstar One directory and it says the file paths are not correct. Have no idea what the hell it wants..anyone got any advice lol? Or does to the fact that i have the Impulse version of DSO have anything to do with my problem?

-> open the fixer.bat in a text editor
-> find the two lines beginning with 'cd' ('cd lua' and 'cd missions')
-> one line above, insert
cd "\<path to your ds>"
like:
cd "\program files\gog.com\darkstar one"
cd lua
cd mission
-> save & exit

That should take care of the problem.
An alternate way I haven't tested, but should work just as well, would be to open a command line interface, navigate to the darkstar path, and run the fixer.bat from there.
