Great to see this one coming. This is a great game, if a bit repetitive. I was very disappointed when I couldn't get this to work with Vista. It's also known for it's terrible DRM (Starforce?).
Good job, GOG guys!
Can't wait 'til Tuesday.

Same here. I really enjoyed this game and highly recommend it to any Space Sim fan.
Ridding anything of Starforce DRM is worth my money.
How does it play with a mouse?
Its impossible to buy PC joysticks these days, and I tried and hated freespace2 with a mouse or gamepad...

Very well. In fact, one of the reasons I like this game--I can play on my laptop with it on my lap. The mouse control isn't perfect, but I found it quite good after a little practice.
I bought this off of Steam this summer, I had a fun time with it and it plays well with a mouse. I personally think it plays a little like GTA in space as opposed to a more hardcore game like X3.
It does have it downsides, the missions do get repetitive after a while and the handful of surface/base missions aren't all that great.
However I do have to add that while DS1 is a good game it's not an old game. I was kind of hoping we would see more 90s or even 80s games in GOG as opposed to the same stuff we see on every other direct download service.

well, considering its coinciding with simon the sorcerer 2, I think its safe to say there's a mix of both, which I'm all for. Restricting yourself to a specific time period is pointless... I say any game a few years old is fair game.
I'll probably give this a try at some point, I've heard about it before but never played it. I'm a big space sim fan, but I've heard mixed reviews about it which is why I hadn't picked it up before
I remember playing the demo and thinking that it was an interesting take on the typical space flight sim what with the ship getting upgraded in more of an rpg type way. I wasn't going to try it for 50 bucks but for 10 I might have to reprioritize the order I will be buying my games from Gog.
how does this compare to the immortal freelancer??? in terms of control???
My copy of DS1 has Tagès. How does it compare to Starforce?
Just bought the game, thanks for releasing it without DRM. I have wanted this before the game even came out, but said no to StarForce! If this trend continues I'll be buying more from here ASAP! Cool! :)
Darn, I bought a retail copy just recently, but didn't realize it had some weird DRM on it.
Oh well, I'm about to buy a copy from GOG (along with Sacred) right now :-) Geez I love this service. I hope it lasts forever. With all this nasty activation and other weird forms of DRM, it's nice there's at least one place I can buy games without worrying about it :)
