This game is on sale this week at Target for $7.50 on the budget rack and it's an actual, physical copy of the game. No brainer for me which one to choose. First time I've seem an overpriced GOG :)

You missed a major factor here. The physical copy of the game includes the awful copy protection system StarForce. It will require you to pop in your CD every time you want to play the game. The easy choice for me is to purchase it from GOG. No DRM and no CD required.
I much rather enjoy the convenience of being able to back-up my game on as many CDs as I want + be able to download it on any computer. And of course no StarForce as started above :]

Enjoy the DRM, especially if it's a version with Starforce. I'd much rather have the freedom.
Another thing to point out is that Target (as far as I know) doesn't exist outside USA. And getting it with regular mail would probably add about 10$ to the price. No brainer for me as well.
Big whoop - $2.50 in savings!
Enjoy your drm.
Totally agree with the rest of the dudes here, the GOG offering is definitely better as it doesn't have StarForce. I remembered the "protection" on this was giving hell lot of problems to people who bought the game, and which is also why I never got to purchasing it then.
Agreed - and personaly i really became of fan of this site :D

Agreed, I am gladly willing to support GOG. I hope this site stays around a longtime.
You're slightly mistaken - the US version, at least, is protected by TAGES, not Starforce.
Which is worse, I suppose, is debatable. Both are pretty bad.
(You might have been thinking of X2 and X3, other recent space sims which were protected by Starforce)

I know the US version holds TAGES (Which I find less annoying compared to Starforce itself. Then again, Starforce is pretty much dead in the US market.)
That said it all sucks.
Plus, simply because the game is on sale at Target for a WEEK doesn't mean its going ot be that price in the future... yes, there will OBVIOUSLY be times you can find a cheaper deal somewhere else, but consistant low prices with no DRM and easy re-downloadability is great. Plus if you want physical disks just burn it.
I'd buy the GoG version if I didn't already own it. And possible still.
I hate changing CD's whenever I want to play a different game. And I'm lazy - can't be assed going to my game shelves and getting the cd. I'd rather just run an executable :)

I find the price differences between vendors somewhat amusing. I saw 2 copies of DS One on the shelf at Fry's Electronics last week.... $39.99 a pop. I chuckled and kept browsing for something else.
