Even minor updates deserve a quick note. My guess is the installer is now 2.0 but nothing that affects the actual game.

Often I do, yes. I normally just click on the "New and coming" tab. Or if I notice the a white number on a red background near "My Account"... I go and check in my game list.

Didn't people bitch enough about some automatic "What's new" feature next to the updated games?

Look on the main page, see the Latest Headlines section? All of our major news goes there, along with the usual social media outlets :)
