you do know this site is 'Good Old Games' Dahmer666? Have you maybe tried an early Zork adventure game before? Games can be many things and 'graphics' are not really that important, although you can used to expecting them to be so. Such is the problem with modern gaming imho.
Personally i find the art in Darklands to be really evocative and the text is often really well written and adds to the game. It's a game of it's time and era, and if you can get past modern day expectations(some just can't), you will be rewarded with a really complex and involving rpg experience. But yeah always keep in mind this is GOG, Good Old Games, and lush graphics was not always the focus of game design.
