I know... please don't hate me. I really like this game, and even up-voted it. But with everything going on in my life, I have so little time to play games, but I was really enthralled with this one. I'd love to know if there's a way to make the game's difficultly level easier.

Perhaps there's a way to cheat, e.g. modify the character stats or enemy stats so that they miss more frequently or something. Just a quick question too... is it against the rules to talk about cheats? Just wanted to make sure... if there's some rule I'm unaware of, I'm really sorry.... and I'll edit this.

But, I'm at the point where I'd really like to continue to play the game, but with less difficulty... any advice, I'd really appreciate it.

Ahh... so, I was poking around in the various files, and it seems like the developers literally put all the stats as editable in JSON files. This is pretty awesome. I assume they did this to make it extensible should they want to add levels and other such things.

Back in my day, we'd compile all this stuff and you'd have to use something like the SysInternal's "String" tool to identify these characters in case you wanted to modify them with a hex editor.

Looks like you literally just need to go into the Campaign folder and modify the returns you receive in the quests to give you a leg up.

In case anyone's reading this... there are several missions within the same section... so you need to modify however many you think you need to make the operation easier for you. I was able to modify a few, and the game is much easier to play now. I can reduce stress incurred, build up necessary experience, and actually build a party, while not making it unreasonable or detracting from the game.

Lol... ok, I'm talking to myself now.

I spent like pretty much all day modifying the values and getting them just right. I think the rewards, risk, and restrictions are set pretty well. I assume it's OK for me to do this? (if not, please let me know).

If anyone would like a copy of my quest folder with all the updated JSON files to make the game more playable and more fun, please message me, and I'd be happy to share them.

FYI, these values get loaded at the time you start the game, so you cannot copy them and expect them to take effect on a new game. Basically... what I did was allow repeat moderate missions, and allow you to be able to grind through levels to gain XP again. I also give a bit more money, and a couple more trinkets... so you can still lose people, but if you just want to have fun and don't necessarily feel you need the "Hurt Me Plenty" difficulty... then this is what you need.

Yeah, it took a lot of fiddling around, but it's not too complicated... it's just that you don't know what values will affect what. If your players excel in rank and skill too quickly, you will be unable to do lower-level missions, so I had to modify that value as well. The way it is right now, I can repeat missions (non-quest missions), so I can build experience while not ruining the game. And... I made sure I get enough money from the adventures that I can afford to solve the problems that arise (afflictions, stress), and still be able to buy weapons and armor upgrades when needed.

I did something like this a while back (make it so that low-level missions can be done with higher level characters). I haven't lately since I instead just play Radiant mode - it has significantly less grind than the normal mode, and features similar changes (e.g. it's more relaxed with respect to level of characters you can take to a dungeon, it doesn't take as long to level, and it doesn't take quite as long to buy stuff).
