Been thinking of giving Darkest Dungeon a spin and i have a few questions before i decide to pull the trigger.

Does the game crash a lot? I've read that some users are having stability problems with the game.

How much are the odds stacked against the player? Is RNG your friend or your worst nightmare?

Replayability/endgame content. Is there stuff to do after you finish the final dungeon?

Inventory management. I've seen NL play this game and he said something about having a small inventory/not being able to carry all of the loot back to base. Can you increase the backpack capacity or is inventory management crucial in this game?

Is it possible to break the game? As in OP party/skill combos and such or will RNG simply screw you over even when you're at your best?

Sorry for the weird questions, i just want to know stuff about the game before shelling out the cash for it.

In all my time I had 1 crash which was supposedly fixed in a patch, so I'd say it's very stable now.

It's a risk management game. RNG is your worst enemy only if you don't understand probabilities. I haven't had RNG screw me over completely yet and I take a lot of time to prepare for missions.

Not really at endgame yet, but I heard there's NG+?

Inventory management is indeed crucial. Also NL plays terribly, don't follow in his steps :D

I've had quite a few runs where I felt nearly invincible, yeah (and I mean on high difficulty missions). But remind yourself that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer :P

NL is my idol and i want to be just like him! :D He really makes the game seem super interesting when he plays it.

Overconfidence is your worst enemy in any game. Learned that the hard way.

It's stable, RNG is as bad as you make it, altho it gets worse in more difficult dungeons, you probably won't finish the game and that's fine, Inventory Management is easy enough if you know what you can afford to spare but it is a thing you need to worry about, you can absolutely break the game but the game won't allow you to keep repeating the same party composition for every run. National League? National Library? Netherlands?

It has crashed at least twice, last time earlier today, froze dead in the water, had to flip the on/off switch on my machine. Interestingly enough, it stated that the save file was corrupted and pulled up a backup from somewhere (haven't bothered looking for it yet) that set my party back in the hamlet.

I find the game extremely frustrating ... not because it's overly difficult or demanding, but rather because it lacks things. For example

1) it will ask you if you are certain you want to go on a mission without trinkets, but doesn't ask why you didn't stock up on provisions. (In one game I sent a party of noobs into the darkest dungeon without supplies, they got past 3 or 4 rooms.)

2) The lack of a manual...how am I supposed to know that you can only lock a maximum of 3 quirks? Or, the effects of half of the quirks (some you discover when the pc acts on his/her own initiative; others you never learn)

3) Story line/plot...there is none; there are only "missions"... after a short while they become repetitive

None of the above means you won't like the game, I guess I'm saying "if money is an issue, wait until it goes on sale."

Sounds like a trial by error thing. I actually like it when a game lets me discover things on my own.

in a bit more than 220 weeks (yes you read it ;) - game time of course), the game crashed 3-4 times. So that is quite ok.

RNG is sometimes your worst ennemy and sometimes your best friend ... it s RNG :).
When the ennemy lands a critic on your hero you will cry, when you land it you will be happy :)

I think you can continue to run dugeons, but there is nothing special to do afterwards.
There is a ng+ mode (you must finish the game from scratch with conditions like: less than x weeks, les than y deaths, with a bit stronger ennemies).

Yes there is some inventory management, but thats fine. You will have to decide what to keep.
I just did few long dungeons today for the first time (yes after more than 200 ones :)). And even with long dungeons it is ok.
On 8th march, there will be a patch with a new character that will allow you to bring back more stuff from a dungeon but who will not be useful in battle. Choice and consequence.

You break the game if at the very beginning you do not upgrade the stage coach to get 4 heroes per week.
After that it is just a question of patience.
Remember one thing: heroes are disposable. Do not be afraid, the cemetary is big enough.
Trouble yourself not with the cost of this crusade - its noble end affords you broad tolerance in your choice of means.

You can buy all the skills for the heroes and set them up as you wish between fights. You can choose 4 active skills among 7. As it is in Diablo 3 for example.

As a final note, the end game has lots of grinding, once you have found the trick to roll over a dungeon, but it is part of the fun: finding an optimised team by exploring their synergies.
The game is about going in dungeons, so grinding is not really an issue, you know you will do dungeons, there is a hint in the title ;)
Also the developers continue to make the game evolve and they are searching ways to reduce the grinding among other things.
After 8th march patch there will be another one for sure.

I had a very difficult time during a period, but now I get lot of fun except in some occasions, I still need to find the optimal team for some situations :)

Also the boss are all quite special with special mechanics you do not find in other fights.

I suggest also reading the patch notes. This game has lots of (semi-)hidden mechanics, some of them mentioned in patch notes.

I didn't build up to 4 for the first month or so, and had little to no problem ... so I don't understand what you mean by "break the game". I focused on my guild and upgraded my blacksmith a little, and just kept sending people out.

Yes, they are...and yes I did fire them when they came back with loads of money, but as useful as a quill pen without a filled ink bottle.

And yes, I didn't like it, nor myself.

Insofar as the merchant (new character type) I had level 6 parties with over 60 grand in the bank.
Insofar as the wiki....there should still be a manual...no excuse

All right, cool. Use this guide to add Darkest Dungeon executable to Steam. Whenever you launch the game via Steam, you can create screenshots using F12 key. This works for just about anything.
