I really would update too the latest version that's version is ancient. Surprised you not having problems with other programs.

Is their a reason you are so.out of date. It came out in 2016 be really surprised if anyone else is on that version.

It seems that most people with Windows 10 1607 LTSB get the "Gpu Crash for unknown reasons!" error and don't even get to see the game's splash screen. Had no problems with any other games. Microsoft will support this OS until 2026. Waiting for patch.

Its quite simple the DirectX version is directly linked into the version of Windows10 you are running and some newer hardware features used for DLSS 2.0 and RTX are not included in Windows 10 1607, so even the latest nVidia drivers cant help you, and when the game attempts to use these missing features, you either get graphical errors, slow down or crashes depending on just what missing functionality you try to use.

Now must business and educational users dont use or need the missing functions, and would rather just have security fixes to minimise the chances of legacy applications having compatibility issues. But if you want to play games or do graphics, media work you want and need a newer Windows build.

I recall seeing somewhere, that 1809 is the minimum supported Windows 10 version.

In general, long term support OS editions are meant for corporations that have ancient software and don't want to update it. Games usually require recent versions to run in order to utilize new APIs.

If you ask me, its a miracle they support Windows 7 (as it is already out of it mainstream support period).

7 - I'm playing on Windows 1607 in all new games, exept few Microsoft games cuz they are greedy.

8 - 1507,1607,1809 have official support till 2025,2026,2028. We free to buy any of that. And dont you think huge game companies (500-5000 pc's) all have expensive Windows 10 Pro on each PC? No they buy LTSC (stable, without crap, long term sup 10 yrs, MAK (Multiple Activation Key), MUCH CHEAPER, etc). And it's legal if we with boys want to play on that pc's, or creating games. Of course it's up to developers optimize for all current Windows versions or not, and players buy it or not, update their Windows or not, but developers must to WARN players about it. Otherwise they should optimize game for all current versions or deal with consequences.

9 - I'm using Windows 1607 ONLY because is just still №1 for gaming, you can check it in YouTube, etc. Many new features are still buggy (i'm always read "bugfixes" in new windows updates and nvidia driver updates in drivers (Game Mode, GPU Scheduling, Ultra-Low Latency, etc - "oh, we are can't fix it for now, so just turn it off for now". Sometimes new drivers ruins old games. For example: check PC Gaming Wiki, when new driver totally broke some nvdia cards expirience for Assassins Creed: Syndicate.

Microsoft want you to load latest Windows cuz of telemetry, cuz they earn huge money on information, and even dont pay you for it. cuz in older version people know how to disable all old telemetry. In latest 20H2 you cant even disable Windows Defender (this is antivirus. and as you know antivirus made you pc slower), even through Regedit so O&O ShutUp10 even disable this option in their soft (check changelog).

If you think I'm too paranoid, check YouTube vloggers who was worked in Microsoft.

Huh. This is really nice to see that they heard us. I thought I might have to play game once (which is real shame since I played Witcher games few times (especially since half of the Witcher 2 is completely different if you join squirrels or not)), wipe out it from hard drive along with the Win 10 20H2 installation I've go on my other partition. Looks like after that patch I would need to just blow away 20H2 and leave Cyberpunk.

Nvdia force you to use at least version 1809 (you can get the LTSC windows)

Supported by Microsoft in form of providing security patches or fixes until 2026. This date does not bind other developers in any way.

Even Microsoft requires newer Windows 10 version for some of its software (like Windows Terminal or some features of PowerToys, which both won't work on versions older than v1903), so it's no wonder that other developers may do the same.

Honestly, good that they want to support ancient Win10 versions but I am kinda annoyed by this mindset. Update your system for crying out loud. I don't want the devs to squander time on ancient versions of windows because some people are too boogus to update their system. Why would anyone use this version in 2020? I agree that Win10 and its updates are far from perfect and I had my fair share of issues but you cannot expect the devs to support such old systems. Did you post your specs btw somewhere? I have not seen it here.

Yes, they should. But I guess they assumed most gamers will be on of the recent version.

I am technical person, PC gamer and this the first time I heard about using LTSC version for gaming (so I guess this is quite niche thing, at least on English or Polish media and forums). I always connected LTSC edition with enterprises.

Up until now, I didn't know anyone who would have version older than 19xx on their private computer and heard about older version being still in use only on work computers.

So, developers most likely thought similarly and didn't test the game with such old version or thought about specifying it in the requirements until someone who uses LTSC for gaming pointed it out to them.

LTSC is enterprise software but it's absolute perfect for gaming on it do to the fact nothing ever gets added or being forced on your system meaning it's in mint condition the day you install it

i have LTSC installed for 2 years works absolute perfect no bullshit with the MS store, or stupid updates that's pointless crap etc.

i consider windows 10 pro or home edition for people with very low standards and bit stupid that they cant operate a computer they feel like a android user that gets that they deserves being treated as noobs
