Hey there,

the other games in my GOG lib have an offline backup installer for download.
Can we expect to have such an installer when the game launches? My internet connection is really bad and I'd like to download the offline installer at my friends place who has a gigabit connection.

The offline installers will be available with the release of the game =)

Just how bad is your internet? If you start the preload now, you need just a little over 341kbps. i.e barely 1/3rd of 1mbps

Acutally it's not THAT bad (16Mbit) but we're also using Internet for TV and so on. And I don't want to have my PC running around the clock if I don't have to :)

Over night (everoyne asleep) you'd be done in about 9 hours. I'd just start the preload and pause it if you have to but let it run for one night, you'll be in a good place and can deal with the offline installer later.

I'm still fearing the day one patch. No one knows how big it'll be. I want to play the game as soon as I get back from work on friday and easiest will be to visit my friend, download the offline installer including day one patch and then be ready to play all weekend :)

But maybe I'll let the preload run tonight and if the day one patch isn't too big I might not have to visit my friend.
We'll know on friday :)

You can setup download speed limiter in GoG Galaxy client and even time windows when it can be downloading. Just start the download, limit the speed and stop it whenever you turn off your PC.

I cap mine so it doesn't effect stuff like that. It works real good.

WOW what a great start to the day download went like rocket average about 35mb/s 58 gigs 25 mins now just a 55 hour wait for update and day 1 patches lol

For what its worth Galaxy isn't required to run games installed by Galaxy. You can just shimmy them off to a backup drive.

Thanks - appreciated. This is just a matter of principle - I want to be in control of what these installation files are, where they are. I'm getting older and like to keep things simple.

I do empathise, but you have to realise they really can't do what you want (have a completely offline installer prior to release day) without making the game playable before release day.

Sorry, but yes they can and have done it before, you downloaded most of the files on predownload then on release day you would download an extra exe file and the game was then installable and playable.
It was how is was done before they created and wanted to push the "optional" Galaxy onto everyone.
This is just CDProject being dicks to those who don't want or need another launcher on their system and a way to push people onto using Galaxy if you want preloading.
I've waited since preordering in July 2019, so I can wait until the 10th to download it, but they are treating offline install users as 2nd class and have been for years.
