Hey all, I'm fully planning to preorder the game physically through Best Buy because I love the fact that the game comes with awesome physical preorder bonuses and Best Buy gives a free steelbook as an extra. However, I'm wondering if the physical versions of the game will be DRM-free like the digital version or if I'll have to use Steam or GOG Galaxy to play it.

It's not a huge deal if I do have to use either platform but I think it'd be awesome to have the DRM-free option so that we can run it through GOG Galaxy if we wish, but aren't required to.

Anyways, thanks for any answers given!

Given the game's size, I'd imagine you'll just get a gog cd key for the game in the box. If they actually plan to release it on discs, they'd have to do it like gta v and use more than 8 discs. Except that was 5 years ago and it is probably a lot bigger than gta v in its size.

Technically, you could probably do it on 2 blu-ray discs but most people don't own a blu-ray drive for their pc so it wouldn't happen.

Having physical goodies beats having digital ones though :)

The game is DRM free, regardless of where you buy it. When you buy a physical version you will get a GOG key, so you can just download it via Galaxy or from you account and just install it.

Even if you buy it on Steam it is DRM free. You can launch it without Steam, just like Witcher 3.

Everywhere I've seen it, they made it a point to state that it has physical discs haha. But yeah, I hope it's CDs because I don't have a Blu-Ray drive in my PC.

VERY nice! Thanks for your response. This is precisely the sort of stuff that makes CD Projekt one of my favorite companies in the industry!
