IAmBored2: What ego man, the FPS community is big but you are not the FPS community. I get you're new to FPSs and think you're king of them all but in reality, pretty much no one uses lingo like ADS except a bunch of wannabees.
avatar
REG2012: LOL! I'm an OG FPS player. I've been around since Wolfenstein 3D days. ADS is widely known among FPS players. You and OP must be new.
And even if you don't know a quick google would have told you. I swear people ask the dumbest shit on forums that can be solved in two seconds lol.

coth_rus: 25 years in shooters, first time hear about the term

Except majority of FPS fans never played any COD. It's not really that popular.
avatar
REG2012: 30 years in FPS for me. Guess you started late. Have you played online FPS? Because if you only played SP then you wouldn't have heard it.

Yep you're new.

CoD 1 was good. Maybe 2. After that it became trash. CoD not popular lol? Are you serious? Every year there is a new piece of CoD trash. It's right up there with Fortshit and OverIt (Overwatch). Blizzard copying what was already done in 1996. Just changed it to cartoony crap.
So Reg, the way that life tends to work is: believe it or not different people have different life experiences and passions, subsequently leading to different skillsets and different knowledge bases. Crazy concept, right? Not everyone lives up to your arbitrary minimum expectations of knowledge in any given field. It's almost as if the purpose of forums is to acquire knowledge through inquiry and/or discussion for a particular subject, regardless of the level of knowledge acquired.

Besides, if you look at his profile (created in Dec 2020) in tandem with the way he types, it's pretty clear he is indeed "new" as you put it, and ostensibly much younger considering you've played games for 30 years at least, making you at least 30 years old because math XD. No need to berate someone for not knowing something you know, especially at your age; you should really know better old man. ;) I'd be willing to bet I know a hell of a lot that you don't know and, admittedly, visa versa.

So maybe instead of being a pretentious elitist arguing over subjective nonsense, we could address the aforementioned question and keep the forum focused on topic? That would be great thanks in advance for your compliance. =)

Seriously though banter aside what about MY question? lmfao- I feel as though it's a good one, albeit inane since none of the ADS times go over (under? something like that) -.1%.

Been playing FPS since Wolf3D and yeah, never heard that term before.
I wonder if its an eSports thing, which i stay faaar away from :D

Thanks for clearing it up though.

I still wonder what the "Range" thing does on sights though.
Does it mean how much the sight zooms in ?

Or does it somehow increase the damage falloff of the gun ?

The range is how far the bullet travels before it starts dropping to the ground. If the range is 5m it will start dipping close to the 5m mark. If there is a reduction of 0.32 then it will go to the maximum possible limit that the weapon fires it at plus 0.32mm more. Basically an overhead to compensate for wind velocity and other environmental factors like rain or snow, etc.

ADS has been around long before esports lol.

I believe range is in reference to damage dropoff past X distance. as opposed to zoom level of a scope. That or it could be both. It cant JUST be magnification level though because why would the scope magnification matter if the gun has a static falloff range? That's mostly me speculating, but it feels logical.

I already answered it

"Aim Down Sights. It's well known in the first person shooter community."

If he had some intellegence he would have googled exactly what I wrote to get more indepth information.

Instead of asking a question that can easily be googled which would lead the OP to a forum that is most likely centered around FPS he wastes people's time by asking a question that has been asked thousands of times on many other forums. I think people need basic training on how to use the internet.

I was referring to my question several posts above in regards to the display of ADS time.

The first sentence in your original answer was sufficient. There was no need for the second sentence; it's unnecessarily belittling

That being said, I agree a lot of people post questions on forums all the time that could easily be googled. Conversely, you're not obligated to answer any forum posts at all, so you CHOSE to answer and CHOSE to be condescending about it. There's no good justification for that in my opinion. Be respectful or get disrespected gramps. ;)

I don't care about being "disrespected". What do I care about someones emotional intention to me. I don't.

Range is how far the projectile travels before the damage begins to drop.

Ignore last message, was a double post.

I'm somehow unsurprised that you're emotionally and empathetically devoid. You might have a thick skin and that's.... a way people live I guess. But taking others emotions into account whilst acknowledging your own, is paramount to fostering a supportive and progressively evolving community. This applies outside of forums too my dude. It's not hard to be polite, you really should try it out sometime. =)

I don't have time to be polite. I need to get what I want as fast as possible.

Yeah, you're a total n00b loser who probably got his ass kicked online and has no skillz what so ever, Get lost.
I had no idea what that was but kinda of sorta figured it out.

My first few hours, ADS could have been "Another Dang Sniper" then .. "Flat Lined"

I had no idea what it was and just didn't care.

I mean the same mods give you range and a scope or virtual targetting thing..... the latter is what I actually want.

in game, it really should be called aim speed.... because -0.25 ADS makes absolutely no sense no matter what you think
