I could not accept the changes that were implemented in Version 1.10. The added stability was great but the newer version made the loot boring by removing variety. The iconic weapons say you can get a choice of several different damage types and a choice of bonus effects but that was no longer true. Regardless of how many times you loaded and crafted the "Widow maker" and "Divide and Conquer" you got identical weapons without diversity that gave the same Chemical and poison bonuses. I don't like poison. I have never opted for poison in any RPG I have played.
What I discovered is that the 1.06 I had before updating to 1.10 is not the 1.06 I have now. It too offers the same boring weapons doing chemical and poison damage. Can anyone shed some light on this?
I realize that the Devs were terrified about gear becoming OT. Well, let me explain a perspective I have yet to see voiced in the RPG community. Take driving in the game.
Having spent a few years as a cab driver and riding a Ducati and a Kawasaki, I do know a little about driving. This game sets the bar really low. It's pop the champagne time if you can manage to drive for a few hundred yards without flying off the road. Yippee! And driving in this game is not fun at all. Every vehicle has steering linkages issues. So, you made the challenge about petty achievements that give no joy instead of making the challenge about riding down the freeway on a bike at 210 mph, narrowly missing the side mirrors of the cars you are passing. How about the fun of flipping the steering wheel as you approach a left turn to go into a slide and then spinning the wheel to the right as you take that left turn to give that perfect high speed turn. Because I want the challenge to be the attainment of perfection and not of mediocrity.
Whether I am plying V, Geralt, John Shepherd, the Lone Wanderer, or some other 'Chosen', 'Beckoned' or whatever, my challenge is not to survive an argument with my mother-in-law, but as V puts it, to become a living legend. And, I want my gear to be the best there is. I want to collect everything and I want displays for it. Taking on goons and thugs by the dozens should not even bring on a sweat - the real challenge should be the bosses who are equally geared and a real challenge. It's not about being OT. It's about raising the bar for challenge. It's the play I, and millions like me. enjoy..
