CDPR isn't doing this because fans are forcing it. That's ridiculous. The official forum had to shut down all nudity discussion because the forum was flooding, so I'm pretty sure they (and probably CDPR too) are aware that there's a significant amount of unhappiness about that situation. But on the balance, if they have to choose between having their game available on Playstations or making some players unhappy, what do you think they're going to choose?

The issue isn't the crowd hating on porn. The issue is that Sony don't want nudity on their consoles and CDPR do not want to have different games on PC and console. Thus the lowest common denominator wins. Just be very happy that the game isn't also available on a Nintendo platform.

CDPR absolutely forcing this hot steaming pile of trash onto consoles, which INCLUDES forcing all the censorship, and they KNEW they would have to cut content, that is clearly force.

They also KNEW the people it would draw by doing it.

As far as adult content in this game, if I thought there was any kind of point in doing so then I'd scream my lungs out about CDPR being spineless cretins that pushed Sony's pathetic standards onto the PC version. But I don't. It's a lost cause. CDPR would rather ridicule themselves than actually deliver an adult cyberpunk experience. It's their choice, I don't like it, but there's not a whole lot to do about it.

And CDPR is not forcing the censorship onto consoles. They're being forced by the gatekeepers of games on consoles to apply that censorship, and since CDPR refuses to diverge between console versions and PC versions then the console censorship is pushed to PC as well.

Lastly, yes, the game is an absolute mess, though personally I'm tempted to use much stronger words about it. As a developer and long time gamer, the game represents almost everything I despise in a software project. It's fun and giggles for a while, but it doesn't do what they advertised it would, it does not seem to know what it is supposed to do, and it glitches and bugs out all over the fucking place. And even the stuff that works looks like it was put together by spare parts from a scrapyard held on by bailing wire and duct tape.

I can see doin that on old gen consoles, but pc and next gen consoles???

I understand their challenges, but they knew exactly what would and would not fly on consoles, Stadia and whatever other supply chain they would like to make extra bucks on. This should have been incorporated into the design decisions from the start.

If this were censorship, there'd be plenty of other things to censor first, like some aspects of character creation for example.

Explain to me the purpose of having explicit nudity on the character creation screen - but then cover up 99% of the whores, strippers etc. in the in-game world and your fellow bed partners during cutscenes? What is the deep philosophical meaning of this design choice - other than for sensationalism during pre-ordering period? It has no meaning, serves no purpose and feels completely misaligned - on the one hand I have an adult protagonist with all his or her private parts proudly protruding on the inventory screen, but on the other hand he or she is the only one in the whole world that has not grown underwear and/or clothing onto the skin (except when showering or looking in the mirror that is).

There definitely was and is censorship in this game. Stupid one I might add.

I'm seeing nipples in the Milfguard video ad, nipples in most romance scenes (the V x River Ward scene even shows V with full frontal nudity in a mirror reflection), and there's plenty more suggestive stuff going on in Night City.

But no, let's all cry over the "censorship" of some vending machine text that might or might not say "Joyboy" or "Joygirl". That's exactly why we all spent $60 on this game...

I'm not talking about ads - i'm talking about models in the game and cutscenes. FFS, the only passable "adult" cutscene is the one from Johnny's flashback with Alt. I don't care about vending machines or ads one bit - I looked at them once or twice and then I don't notice them anymore. I talk about the game overall - choice and use of nudity or lack thereof in this game is bizarre.

Either have no nudity in the game or have it in all the right places. Both are just fine. Don't sit on the fence and don't sensationalize to make money - not good.

Maybe there is no censorship. That'd be the simplest explanation for why some stuff is "censored" and some isn't.

The Witcher didn't portray penetration in its sex scenes either, and nobody cried "censorship" back then. Why should Cyberpunk 2077 be any different?

Um, look, if you're a real fan, you would remember, how much they went the extra MILE in Witcher 2, for us as an ADULT audience, re-submitting the sex scenes around 50 times to get an M rating but keep as much content as possible.. Clearly, that's not how this went down this time.
