cLaude83: Hah. You too? *High five* I would rather slit my wrists with a dull cheese grater than accept a position at a Swedish university.
lace_gardenia: Let me guess, you never leave your house nowadays?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_rights_in_the_Netherlands#Summary_table As you'll recall, I've said before that The Netherlands is a leftist shithole somewhere between Denmark and Germany in its eager pursuit of the Scandinavian 'norms' and 'values' exemplified by such collapsing hellscapes as Norway and, worse still, Sweden. But it's not nearly as successful in that endeavor as the socialists and globalists would have it.
The majority of this country still does not accept that there would exist more than two sexes or what you would call 'genders'. Similarly, the common Dutchman will not discriminate against someone in a same-sex relationship, but they also do not approve of it, or consider it normal or healthy. Transsexuals are pitied or laughed at from a polite distance; and PDA between members of the same sex is widely frowned upon, though seldom reprimanded.
That is the current state of The Netherlands. And I can accept holding a lucrative research and teaching position at my university here. Should a similar or better position present itself in my or my wife's home country, or somewhere else less corrupted, than I will take it. Until then we are content living here.
But I expect in the course of this new decade, things will get a lot better. The growth in popularity of parties like FvD and PVV demonstrates that the Dutch are more than fed up with being pushed around by their European 'overlords'. I think -- and hope -- that someone like you will be bitterly disappointed with what awaits Europe (and the world) during the next ten years.
