Where the fuck is it? Looked online which already shows how poorly designed this is and there is no shards tab, nothing works.

This game is still a steaming pile of shit that it was on release even after updates.

What do you mean by 'shards tab'?

If you mean the books you collect around the world, they're under the glossary (or tutorial, can't remember rn) tab of the menu where you also access inventory, character level up, etc.

If you mean your cyberware, there is a cyberware tab under the inventory tab.

My frustration being with the game initially and then trying to find an answer to a problem with the game that shouln't exist in the first place and I still can't access the shard from that women at the start of the game.

All I see online is "hover over journal tab" to see a drop down menu with "shards" - there is nothing. No drop down menu. No shards. The videos and screen shots show the individual tabs in the middle of the screen, in my game those same tabs are at the top of the screen. So a feature in the game to decrypt shards which doesn't work or really exist in the game at all.

There may be something wrong with your copy at this point. If it comes from GOG or Steam, I'd suggest you to contact support. Otherwise, you've probably been had by some low-life scammer selling cheap key from God knows where.

EDIT If by 'that woman at the start of the game' you mean T-Bug, that is just a tutorial. You're given the option to do it just before your very first mission after you meet Jackie, and if you refuse that's it. It's just the game's way of making you familiar with its mechanics, nothing more.

When I first enter the screen to see my Journal Skills Inventory Map. All of those tabs are at the top of the screen. I was messing around in those tabs and pressed "ESC" to exit, but it then sent me to the screen where those same separate tabs are in the centre of the screen. I hovered over "Journal" and the drop down menu finally appeared. This is terrible UI design.

So everytime I want to access shards, I have to perform this idiotic process.

I bought the game here on GOG.

first open backpack and click on the shard (should have a little yellow !), then V says oh uh oh bam bam bam the shard have to be hacked cuz of militec trojan...after that you will find it at your Journal... but i rather not to hack......your choice
