Yeah, CDPR had stated a few months ago that an enhanced version will be released for next-gen consoles. What's not clear to me is whether the PC version will look significantly better at release, and that just means the next-gen console version will be brought up to par.

Like you, I'm hoping it means that the PC version will get significant improvements, especially since there's a good chance I won't even get around to playing the game until that happens.

What I do know is that fools rush in, and I wouldn't think of playing a game on release these days--the less so the more interested I am. Unfortunately, not even CDPR has a record of releasing polished games, but unlike their competition, they do have a record of spending the time and money to fix issues.

This is the first time I've heard anyone say anything like that. The only generally negative things I've ever heard said about TW3 are the movement mechanics, and perhaps lackluster combat (which better not be anywhere near as bad as TW2).

One thing I've often heard is that the coding and optimization are a lot better than the average console port, with fairly impressive visuals at good framerates. I've researched this, and according to multiple tests, TW3 on Max settings with Hairworks OFF apparently averages just under 60 fps at 4K on a 1080 Ti.

I have never heard anyone call it a "bug fest", and though I know that Steam reviews are usually biased toward the positive, I honestly can't see any game that is truly a "bug fest" getting a 98% Positive average. I just don't see that being possible.

have you tried to leave a game negative review? :) that would show you why there's not so many people willing to do so. Fanbase is aggressive and starts calling you names and writes ugly things in comments to your review right away. anyway, if you willing to learn what goes under radar I have some screenshots to show how it actually fails on collision and how you have to reload your game once in a hour because you stuck in objects and got killed or can't move

also a review outlining major game issues (I just run out of space to list all bugs) but what I faced is the need to reload my game every 1-2 hours because something happens to it. another nasty bug with traders when you click on trader, trade, exit trade and they don't exit, you just hang there in empty menus unable to return to your game. happened regularly. this is not what I would expect from decent game.

Phew......Look, I'm honestly having trouble taking you seriously now, because this makes no sense whatever. Even before Valve made comments disabled by default, I've never heard of anyone changing their review to positive because they were forced to by an angry mob.

Absolutely, a red thumb can result in a brigade of fangirls making fools out of themselves, but people don't actually feel threatened by them. Maybe a little stupider for having been in proximity to so many of them at the same time...but not threatened.

Wait...have you been talking about the Linux version the entire time, without letting us know? Don't get me wrong, every release of a game should be polished, but if you're talking about things that only apply to one version and not another, that's decidely relevant information.

I think the specs they have posted are for 1080p with 30fps. It might not be, but if you take this as a conservative number, it makes sense.

What would cause you to believe that only 30 fps makes sense? For one, CDPR isn't silly enough to think that they can pass that kind of nonsense off on PC gamers. I'm certain they know exactly what the reaction would be if they recommended 30 fps to the PC market. Only a small minority of PC gamers consider that acceptable.

But beside that, it has already been pointed out that C2077 is a current-gen game, for 2013 console hardware. You simply can't expect any kind of significant boost in fundamental hardware requirements. Most AAA games have required a minimum of 8GB of RAM for five years now, just the same as C2077.

I think that most people don't realize that most AAA games are not coded specifically for the PC architecture, nor is there any optimization done at all. They are "toss-ported"--the devs simply relying on people using PC hardware that is much more powerful than consoles in order to achieve acceptable framerates.

But when a developer expends the effort to properly code & optimize a PC version, it will deliver a similar or better level of technology than a toss-port, but achieve significantly higher framerates.

Now I'm having trouble taking you seriously. I played it on freshly installed fully up-to-date Windows (I'm dual booting for stubborn or resource heavy games). There's no Linux version of the game, CDPR are not capable to port anything. heck, they even not capable to create decent game engine. the one they have for Witcher 3 is incomplete (if to give them benefit of the doubt) or plain bad if we can consider it as finished after 5 years. As you can see from my screeshots, game has major issues with collision and it's a part of bigger issue with this engine - no physics. Nothing has weight, nothing has a feeling of real objects. Geralt and everything around him floats. Game lacks real objects and it looks awful when you loot sword from enemy but the image of that sword still lies on the ground. you can't put an object on the surface to see it. everything you drop turns into a bag - it lacks own texture. It feels like at some point CDPR just stopped to develop it. Awful engine, awful AI and I hope they won't reuse this engine in CP 2077 or at least they will rework it.

I haven't yet played it myself, but I'm almost certain that it does, in fact, appeal to female gamers. Exactly the same way in which it appeals to male gamers--that is to say, that it appeals to some and not to others. Because as far as I know, female gamers, or females in general, are not some kind of weird Borg collective whose views and sensibilities can be spoken for by a single representative.

As for myself, I do not care for gratuitous sex or nudity and don't see how it increases the enjoyment of a game, but it seems clear that many people do.

There are two points that I don't understand. You seem to be describing the game as sexist because there are slaughtered females, and also because there are naked females. First, I hope we can both agree--for argument's sake--that if there is nothing wrong with slaughtered females or naked females, then there is also nothing wrong with slaughtered naked females?

My first point is that there are far, far more slaughtered males in video games than slaughtered females, so it's not clear to me why slaughtered females should be considered worthy of note simply because they exist.

My second point is that I am told that there is nothing wrong with nudity, and that people who have a problem with it are religious prudes. I do know that everywhere I go, from the grocery to the beach, women are habitually wearing as little clothing as socially--or even legally--permissible.

I only point out that, logically, if there is nothing wrong with men being slaughtered in a video game, then according to the professed doctrines of "feminism" there is nothing wrong with women being slaughtered in a video game. And if there is nothing wrong with nudity, then I don't see how there can be anything wrong with slaughtered nude females. Well, actually that's not correct. Console games routinely exhibit average framerates of ~25 fps, often dipping into the teens, so 30 fps is definitely not considered the minimum playable.

But if you mean that 30 fps is considered acceptable in the console market, I agree. I'm not sure how that is relevant to a discussion of PC standards, but nevertheless, I agree!

We need specs for:

1080p at 60fps.

1440p at 30fps.
1440p at 60fps.

4K at 30fps.

I just noticed that a video was released showing C2077 running on a 30 Series GPU (unsure which one) at max settings with ray tracing. It's described as "4K", but DLSS is enabled, so it's not actually 4K.

I've been avoiding all imagery since mid-2018 so I won't watch it myself, but my point is that you may be able to use that in order to get an idea about what kind of framerates you may be expecting on various cards at various resolutions.

If we set aside ray tracing and DLSS, I would expect to see bare minimum 60 fps average framerates on a 3080 at max settings at 4K. If CDPR do a much better job at PC coding and optimization than the average port, I would expect that to be considerably higher.

If this demo with ray tracing and DLSS is getting anywhere around 60 fps, I wouldn't think there is any worry about maintaining 60 fps at lower resolutions with lesser cards. And if one is willing to use DLSS, the framerate would increase even further.

So my laptop has an Intel I7-10750H, an NVIDIA GTX 1660TI, Windows 10 and enough space on my SSD. However, I only have the minimum 8 gigs of RAM instead of the recommended amount or higher. Will that bottleneck performance at 1080p?
