I thought the voice actors are alright. Sadly only two types to choose and male sounds better.
But the worst are some of the dubs, mostly the German subs are horrid and sound like every other Movie.
Just compare it by watching the Launch Trailer in various Languages. One could say the English is one of the better ones... In German the actors sound dead.. Like reading down lines without any bother to put emotion into it.

Hygienic: The Russian VO is far superior. I know it's set in America, but the Russian actors are just better. I don't like either the male or female English V actors but all the other English cast are good/passable.
I wouldn't even pretend I can tell good from bad in any language other than English, if I have to read subs then the voice work is already compromised as my focus is else where then there's me missing half of what is said because they fly by too fast for me, which begs the question why would anyone have a Universal Translator installed(which doesn't even translate all the time for some reason), and have it in text rather than audio?

Xcava86X: on the other hand I have VERY underwhelmed by Keanu
He sounds too dry and compressed in the first few hours of his appareance. And then it opens up a bit with more flex in his tone according to what is going on in the game.

Maybe they had low quality audio recording gear for him in the beginning and then they realised it's not so expressive and got him better mics.

If you watch a lot of films or play games with different languages you actually get better at reading the subs and focusing on what's happening on screen, you just need to expose yourself to your non-native language and it becomes a more natural skill. Luckily I understand an awful lot of Russian anyway, but I can play pretty much anything in any language after watching and playing things from overseas for years. If I have the choice I'll go with a native language over a dub as they're often far superior. I'll be trying Cyberpunk in Polish and I hope it will be as well acted as the Polish versions of the Witcher.

The universal translator is a good point, but I'll forgo canon to have a subjectively superior set of voice overs.

Interesting tangent:

I watch a lot of foreign films - and for those presented in a language I don't speak, I often tend to think the acting (when it's decent, as a percentage of acting is body language) seems better. There are a number of factors contributing to this reaction, but I still find it interesting. Also, I almost always prefer a work's native language over dubs.

Russian VO in this game is really bad. Look at the threads on the Russian forum on GOG, they are trashing it to oblivion. As a Russian speaker that played this game in English and then listened to the Russian voiceovers on Stream, I agree it is trash.

Too much obscenity uncalled for, including where English wording had none. Also, its serious obscenity, not the lighthearted version that Witcher 3 used to have in Russian VOs. Heavy, unnecessary stuff.

Russian VOs in Witcher were amazingly good - found them better than English for sure. Would love to be able to understand Polish - perhaps it was even better.

I am ok with the obscenity, some lines are funny, but the Nomad in the brazilian localization is just bad, they sound like our types of rednecks. Some dirt dialogue is kind of out of place, we don´t use them on every situation, I mean, my car explodes, Johnny in T pose, talking with that Keanu boring voice, and a random women says "suck my v!@#" out of nonwhere in the streets.

I laugh, not going to lie, it was glorious.

English male V sounds like a regular person adequately reacting to things happening around. I have no issues with him, however female V is sometimes sounds like reading stuff from the paper (which is what probably was) and sometimes way too overacting. It was really hard to play like that (more than once I was thinking that game really could use "Image As Designed" from "Saints Row" where you could change everything about your character(including your voice).

Russian VOs are the same - in English they will be more or less placidly talking, and then in Russian, they will go f*ck this and f*ck that. Like out of place and completely out of context...
I like all the voices I heard.

I'm playing male V btw.
The french male voice for V is just big NO. I dislike the rhythm of his speech, too broken in its pace and I sense no passion nor intonation. He feels lifeless.
The english cast is one of the good things about the game.

Loved the acting.
IMO it's not the voice actors that gets to me on the dialog. It's the dialog itself.

Almost every bit of dialog is written using multiple words instead of using contractions.

We will go ... We'll go
I will be going .. I'll be going
They will do it .. They'll do it.
We are doing this .. We're doing this

When it's being read (or spoken), the dialog sounds as if it's from a teleprompter, not flowing conversation.

MrJemandem: Not such a fan of the voice actress for V. Some Lines are putting me off. It feels like overacting in some cases and in a lot of cases mid sentens the tone changes from agressiv to sensible or silent to laud for no reason. I dont know she is a quite experienced Voice Actress and ins some of the other games like Fire Emblame, Nier Automata i quite liked her.

In my Opinon most of the other cast is doing way better. You girls and guys feel the same?
I've been playing a male V and his voice acting seems fine, but I've also been watching someone playthrough as a female and I have to agree, the female dialogue does seem a bit inconsistent.
SERIOUSLY....... LIKE VEEEEEERY.....

my problem is with KEANU REEVES, who speaks like he was a morpheus smoking marijuana.

I dont know what they told him, but his lines feel like a bit SLOW, making him sound like somebody that´s not QUICK ON REFLEXES, and not that emotional.

Johnny Siilverhand was a complete prick, stubborn, self centered, and mostly a "happy trigger".

those characteristics dont match with someone speaking slooooooooowww.

what the fuck, keanu, what happened? were you smoking marijuana all the time?
