I am exactly the opposite - I like Witcher 3 far more than this game. It's not about the setting - the setting is of course dark, dirty, broken etc - it's about the quality of gameplay, quests and even graphics sometimes (yes, Witcher 3 is a 2015 game and it often looks better than 2020 Cyberpunk). It is about the expectations as well - I expected a product of the same calibre and quality and CP2077 so far failed to deliver.

Witcher 3 at release was a mad house, but its one of the greatest of all time now. Every single Bethesda game ever made i the history of the company was actually, and im not just saying it, unplayable at launch... hell look at the Marvel game, after patching it its a damn fun game and i was able to complete it without any issue... Star wars Battlefield 2 also a ridiculously fun game but also unplayable due to bugs and pay-to win at launch but now is very fun. The Batman games were plagued with crashes and broken engines and now they are a joy to play. ELEX a smaller game had some serious issues but now its a Cyberpunk apocalyptic wonderland of fun.

CDP didnt pay the shills to say nice things like EA, Ubi, no one made money off good reviews sooooo they cratered the game and manipulated the minds of the public to follow along because hating on something is easier then just accepting it'll get patched and moving on.

We are self entitled monsters all of us, you can't deny it, it's how much of that we show the world thats makes us who we are.

I'm not saying there wasn't some mistakes made with embargos and lack of images from the last gen consoles. Who ever forced them to release and hid the last generation console gameplay is to blame... if it was not for that this wouldn't even be a talking point. Or they could have just been honest and upfront about it, a better option would be to release to PC and Next Gen and work on last gen consoles later (if at all)

and with W3 there was so many actor animations issues, armor issues, NPCs spawning in the ground, horses turned inside out flying scales no skeletons in creatures... it was pretty damn bad for a minute but they patched it well within the first few months and nearly all issues were fixed.

I was quest locked twice on the demon baby one because i befriended something once and lifted another thing outside of parameters... which was fixed and allowed to happen out of sequence, patches fixed it all within a month of release.

Honestly, bugs and performance issues are of least concern right now. I pretty much expected a technical disaster on launch, since that is CDPR's tradition and this was supposed to be a very big game.
What I didn't expect from CDPR is an underwhelming game that we got.

I wouldn't say that expecting this game to be at least on par with Witcher 3 quality wise - was a case of having too high expectations considering the much higher budget, bigger dev team and longer development time that went into this game but the unfortunate reality right now for me is that Witcher 3 craps all over this game in most areas.

I hope they will add significantly more content in with free DLC, and not just insubstantial stuff like we got with Witcher 3 but I don't think they will.

I'll now take screenshots of those - did not bother till now. Just honestly do not recall my Witcher 3 experience having those bugs you mention with armor, horses etc. - and I played it from the first day it was released. Maybe I got lucky. Yes, there were some actor animation issues - but same and worse are here with many NPCs not moving their lips at all when talking.

I'm loving the game alot but there are alot of areas that could be improved. The 3 you mentioned are perfect examples (especially the AI). I wonder if expecting the game to run and be fun is considered a "unrealistic expectation" in those people's minds. Lol,

OP, I am waiting for EA to sell a game for $70 and when you buy the board at EA defecates in a paper bag and mails it to you. People complain on the internet and then a bunch of people rush in and say you had unrealistic expectations and this is an excellent game.

I've enjoyed playing the game so far. The gunplay is surprisingly great and impactful and the hacking is fun. My main gripes are the paper thin facade of the world. Not the city itself, that's beautiful, but the smoke and mirrors that are so easily brushed aside. For example:

The traffic jams because the NPC's can't navigate the roads correctly.

The lines of bumper to bumper vehicles that disappear as they get within a couple of hundred yards of you.

The pedestrians that despawn or just pop into existence.

The lack of interaction with world elements outside of scripted moments, such as being able to sit in a chair.

I also don't understand why I'm required to press a key twice to holster my weapons. My keyboard has 100 odd keys on it. I shouldn't have to press any of them twice to do something so simple. I also hate that crouch toggle is the same as skip conversation. Again, over 100 keys available, why the dual function keys?

These are not bugs. I don't mind bugs, they're easily patched, but the issues I have boil down to bad design decisions and what I see as frankly a piss poor attempt at implementing a living breathing city. The city looks great, but the illusion is far to easily dispelled and there are areas of the game that show a lack of effort, like not being able to shoot out car tyres or the lack of bullet splashes in water.

I expected more from the people that brought the world of The Witcher to life.

The three things you listed aren't things that would make my experience and expectations better or worse, since they're not things that affect anything I do (I stealth wherever possible, don't care about playing in the sandbox world etc).

Things that would make my experience better would be greater interaction between the characters and rolling the GIGs into longer more involved sidequests with those characters, which are things that I expected to see and didn't.

That said, I love the game, I think it's great - it's in my top ten and I had a total blast in my first playthrough and wasn't this invested in playing a game since probably The Witcher 3.

Unrealistic expectations are definitely not the problem, but how a game is presented and the expectations that creates definitely change your enjoyment and view of the game.

That's not to say that the game doesn't have problems, I managed to avoid performance and bug problems, but they clearly exist and are affecting other people.

Cyberpunk 2077 feels like what CD Projekt did with the first Witcher. It was a janky, sometimes falling short, but it has heart.

I don't know if they can turn 2077 around to make it the spectacular wonder everyone excepts it to be based on their expectations, but I do think they're going to try. Who knows, they might pull out 2088 and 2099 in the next decade and set the standards once again.

The low re-activeness of the world but the small locations feel a lot like how The Division works - even to the amount of quests with Fixers.

We'll see, but I truly hope this isn't the case, because whilst I loved Cyberpunk 2077 - if it could have been better by not making sacrifices to accommodate a multiplayer game I'll be most sad.

Third person is shit. I hate it. Why is it so important to see the back of the character? It takes you out of the game and it's not as immersive. You can remap any button you want with your keyboard software. We on PC have that choice. Console players don't lol. Too bad for them.

With what I'm about to say, I am enjoying the released game of Cyberpunk 2077. I'm not sure if I'll bother playing three runs or just one run and try to complete everything. With that said, I am kinda disappointed that the game is a largely stripped down version of what was shown in the near 50 minute trailer. I don't think it's wrong to say I'd much prefer to be playing that game.
