This is just a quick HOWTO for anyone trying to get the official CP2077 REDmod mod manager up and running without using the Galaxy client -- as documentation for doing so doesn't seem to be posted anywhere.

I'm playing on a Linux machine at the moment, so I'll mention the Wine-related bits as well.

Tested environment:
• Cyberpunk 2077: 1.61_(64bit)_(60064) (link)
• Cyberpunk 2077 REDmod: 1.61_(64bit)_(60064) (link)
• Manjaro Linux (up to date, 2022-01-22)
• Lutris
• Wine Runner: lutris-7.2.2-x86_64
• Winetricks 20220411-1

Assuming you already have a working CP2077 installation from the offline installer --
If using Lutris, the included winetricks is often broken. Ensure you have winetricks installed and "Use system winetricks" is ENABLED under Configure>Runner Options.

REDmod Launcher Requirements:
• Use winetricks to install vcrun2019
• In the Wine Configuration, ensure Windows Version is set to Windows 10
• Install REDmod - if using Lutris, do this via "Run EXE inside Wine prefix" from the wine glass menu at the bottom of the window

From now on, load the game using "GOG Games/Cyberpunk 2077/REDprelauncher.exe" (instead of the usual "Launch Cyberpunk 2077.lnk" or "Cyberpunk2077.exe").

In the Pre-launcher's settings (see attached screenshot), ensure "Enable mods" is enabled and then click Play.

For details on installing mods via REDmod, see "HOW CAN I INSTALL MODS FOR CYBERPUNK 2077?" at https://www.cyberpunk.net/en/modding-support.

You'll have to verify REDmod compatibility on a per-mod basis.

There are a number of REDmod-based mods over at NexusMods these days, so you might also want to take a look at the NexusMods REDmod Modding Tool - All You Need to Know

cheers~

I've been considering buying Cyberpunk, but as a Linux gamer I've been very hesitant.

You have it working?

I use ubuntu, would this work with 22.04 LTS do you think or would it need to be 20.04 or another version?

Didn't really think this was a question anymore.
Lots of people are playing it on their Steam Deck these days, lol.

But yeah, play's great.
Of course, it has the same problems it does on Windows --
some clipping bugs, occasional crash, but nothing Linux-specific that I've noticed.

I'm running on mostly Ultra settings*, triple-head across three 32" screens, at 7680x1440 --
closest thing to VR without putting on a headset :)

* specs and screenshot below

Hardware matters, of course, and it took a fair bit of tweaking to get everything to play nice.
But I'm holding a stable 50-60 fps, not even breaking 70°C on the GPU.

As for Ubuntu, I haven't played around much with 22.04 -- it'd likely be ok, but since they bumped to OpenSSL 3.0, half my dev tools won't build against it, so I didn't experiment for long -- though I'd expect 20.04 to work fine too.

So long as you're using a recent Lutris or Proton build, they're bringing most of the lib requirements to the table anyway, so your main concern's more likely to be performance tweaks... took me about 3 hours to tune it just right.

• AMD Ryzen 9 5950X
• Nvidia GeForce 3090 FTW
• 128 GB RAM

• Screen refresh locked at 59.95 Hz
• Nvidia compositing pipeline enabled (to force external v-sync)
• In-game v-sync disabled
• DLSS set to performance
• Disabled chromatic aberration
• Disabled contact shadows
• Cascaded shadow range set to low
• Motion blur disabled (this didn't make a difference, but motion blur makes me dizzy ;)
