I'd like to play it on W7, too. Changing OS is such a stress, I'm postponing it as long as I possibly can. Besides with inevitable DLCs and GOTY editions, I will get to play it in the late 2021 probably.
I still vote for W7, though!

MarkoH01: I think they will still support Win7 in the end. There are still many out there who don't want Win10 - supported or not. Excluding those (at least officially) would not benefit them in case they actually should know that it is running on Win7 as well - and why shouldn't it, as long as they don't use DX12?
avatar
Aquelll: I am pretty sure they are using only DX12 so my bet is that it won't work on older Windows. A huge majority of those that still use Win7 are corporate users. Upgrading is a big cost for a corporation and they are happy to just have Word and Excel working.
Afaik only the minority of games use DX12 only - it also does not seem to have the big advantages people expected, so I don't know why they should develop DX12 exclusively with this one.
No Amiga 1200 support? Come on guys, my BeOS on PPC would like some Cyberpunk... ^^

Just because CDPR is friendly with users, doesn't mean users run the business. I'm Die-Hard Linux user, and sure i'd love this game to support it, but be realistic even tho game is futuristic :)

Micro$oft is pushing Windows 10 for a long time now, and as much as i don't like win10 (ergo switched to Linux) I understand it is easier, and less expensive to support 1 version of OS , that's why XP is gone, 7 will be done this year's end, 8 and 8.1 (lets forget about that versions, M$ for sure tries), 9 (well, M$ has some math issues, but hey ^^) so 10 is what we're left with. Of course there are companies (and worse hospitals included) that still run XP or even - no joke - win98) so now imagine porting that game to systems that M$ itself tries to pull the plug out long time now. Don't expect Sony will do more PlayStation 1 games or port them from PS4.

I don't have even computer that would run Witcher 3, nor 2 for that matter, but i still got the games cause it is last bell to change it for newer one. World is spinning, won't stop/wait for You.

And yes, i'm getting preorder for CP2077. At least its seem to be single player, so i won't have to deal with players like Yous when i join the CP universe.

Oh, come on! There's no real difference between W7 and W10 except for some VS compiler switches. DX12 is not a thing at all, the real difference lies in MS marketing stuff. For the record I still use WXP on more than 60 machines, although they are SLOWLY being phased out for W7.

This was a tiny bit uncalled for.
An interesting discussion.

As much as I would love to support the developer and pre-order, I just can't until the specs are out there.

I' ve been holding off as long as possible to move to W10, but accept that the time is coming soon. My old alienware with W7 is just not ready to give up the ghost yet. When it dies, I guess I'll give in....

Cheers, all

Sorry - what? :)
Unless u are talkung about upcoming chips in 2020, of course.

Morrgan512: If they say "you need win10 to play" it will be a good reason to change the system :D
No. I loved Witcher series and want t very much to try Cyberpunk, but I'll NOT install RemotePCAccess 10.

You already need to go through ridiculous hoops to get Windows 7 work with Ryzen CPUs and it will only get worse since there is no additional support from either Microsoft or AMD. Same with Intel CPUs. It will only get harder and harder to get them to work with Win7. Also game devs and GPU makers will soon drop DX11 - which I think CDPR already have - for good because it is outdated and not developed anymore. Windows 7 is an outdated not supported ancient piece of software and maybe it is time to lay it at rest? I agree Windows 10 have it's own problems not all small but at least it is supported and developed. Yes, Win10 just only passed Win7 in users a couple of months back but if you look at the Steam survey it is 67% of Steam users on Win10, 23% on Win7 and the difference is growing every month.

I have i7-7700 and from my old experience with computers I reckon it will work at least several years. So far have zero problems with Win7 SP1.
Then I'll see. Most probably I'll migrate to Linux.
And STEAM does not matter to me as it is DRM service.

and when you get console you are running Win 10.

Also they do support Win 7. it is just software drivers shenanigans. Like other scam business limiting hardware by a simple software lock(creating artificial walls for you to spend more money).

Even Tesla performs software lock on their batteries.

Scam business all over the place. We already live in "cyberpunk" era.

Although I have no desire to argue with anyone about OS (not a wise thing to do on the Internet), but however angry you may be about W10, you must be aware that it is basically the same old reskinned W7 which in turn is pretty much the same old Windows 2000 (putting all compatibility and core business aside), and all the spying stuff in it is easily circumventable by using simple tools. If you're not on the Linux yet then you'll probably never be, because you lack that fanatical stubbornness required for it (which is a good thing imo).
Guys, if you're concerned about W10 being spyware, just keep it offline.
Downloading the installer on another PC is no rocket science.

Igorq: Then you probably should plan to switch from gaming on PC to gaming on a console...

Leszek38: Consoles are for children.
And you're being childish, so they're a perfect fit, no?
In one hand, it could be Microsoft contagion: they hardly try to foist their "win10" to everyone. By forcing w10 requirements for WMR headsets, games, game pass and even to denide windows 7 updates on modern Intel CPUs (while it could be updated with Celeron or by soft trick). Still most games from studios purchased by M$ made games for w7 and they work well on it (even if official req is w10). Virtually any game that development began 3 or more years ago should work on w7.
In other hand, we can't be sure about it w/o dev's answer.

CD Project, we know you are a bit held hostage here.. but if CP2077 gonna work on w7, you just blink! =]

(sure there always the method to set w10 on separate hdd and to play w/o Internet connection, but it's pretty dreary. and costly)

Tesla also has paintjobs that start peeling after 5000 miles but that is another story... :D

the very same here. I just while ago bought i7-7700K (right 'cause it fully working with w7), as my i5-760 was fit most of my gaming needs till this year (I have a newer PC too, but it used only for work, by remote access through LAN)
and despite all the difficulties of transition to Linux I think it'll be right choice for my next-gen upgrade.
