SirVincealot: I just perused the forum and many (NO, not all) complaints people have is over running the game on an unsupported OS, on a mobile GPU, on a rig that doesn't have the horsepower for Ray Tracing, with mods not updated to the game's latest version or - and I'm sorry to be "that guy" but I feel I have to be - not knowing how to play. It was perfectly reasonable AT LAUNCH to blame the game.
TL;DR:
I can confirm the game is definitely playable now.
Fun fact, I have installed the game on 4 separate systems, all using the 1.03 installer and patches as available. And it has not once failed to complete the install and be playable.
I have played through the game 3 times (on patches 1.03, 1.06 and 1.3), and am currently half-way on my 4th (started on patch 1.5 and am now on 1.6). I got about 600 hours at this game. 210 hours on the first playthrough, then 180, then 150 and some 60 hours on the current one..
Yes, the game was still bugged AF on patch 1.03. 1.06 sorted most of them, but I wouldn't describe the game as definitely playable until 1.3.
The only technical issues I have had during this last playthrough has been on my own doing, and all of them has been due to incompatible mods (what a shock, right?). Quite a few crashes, but again, what can I expect when using a whole heap of random FAN MADE mods. And whenever I have had an issue, I have read up on the probable cause and fixed it, on my own.
Are there still bugs in the game? Absolutely, I see visual glitches all over the place! Even some of the old T-posing when hitting the gas pedal before the character has fully entered a vehicle.
Visible AI spawns that happens when I do a 360°. The AI is more braindead than the zombies in Dying Light, killing all of the immersion as far as I'm concerned. A clueless police AI that will shoot at you in public for stopping at a red light and they just happened to be close enough to you to trigger hostility.
There are still things that can be sorted out / handled differently (like pedestrians not screaming "maniac!" when they walk into my car), but the game got a TON of things to do! And it can be modded basically to suit everyone's desires at this point. You want a Milion damage shotgun? Done! You want flying cars? Done!
