As of a few days ago, the game won't start. When I press the button, all that happens is that I get a popup telling me that a script file is missing or corrupt, followed by the "CP77 has flatlined, would you like to make a report" popup. And yeah, it's my bad; I got a bit careless with the modding and messed something up.

I have tried both Verify/Repair and a reinstall (though I did not tell it to remove my saves), neither of which have had an effect. So I guess that what I'm asking is either which of the files I should look into removing, or where the saves are kept so that I can preserve them over the course of a full reinstall.

Cant say what you did to make the game keep crashing, but the save game files are located in:
C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Saved Games\CD Projekt Red\Cyberpunk 2077

As I said, my inept attempts at modding the game appear to have broken something important. In particular, the Custom Quickslots mod off of Nexusmods was the last one I tried and failed to install.

Good to know where the saves are. I'll try a full reinstall and see if that fixes it.

I know the feeling. Got a comprehensive list of mods myself, and the one time I installed the wrong version of CET, everything broke. Game wouldn't even launch anymore, and the latest version of CET didn't fix it.

I don't even know which version of CET I have, in case I would need to troubleshoot anything if the game breaks again.
And my setup of mods makes CP77 crash randomly now, and I have no idea where to even start trying to fix it.

So what do I do? Why, install more mods obviously. ^^

The best mod I have is by far "Let There Be Flight". Being able to fly around freely was a game changer!
But the funniest mod is RadioEXT, and making a custom ingame radio channel.

Not much beats driving around in NC, listening to Darude - Sandstorm. xD

Er, are you sure that address is correct? Because I can't seem to find anything relating to saved games under that heading. I'm on Win10, just so you know.

It's where the saves are stored on my Windows 10 machine.

Did you do a copy-paste of the folder address or follow it folder by folder on your machine?
A copy-paste won't work as every system user is different, hence the universal [USERNAME] tag in all-CAPS.
Okay, never mind, I had to do several searches but managed to find them eventually. Now to see if a full reinstall fixes the problem.

What was your save game folder then? Was it different from mine?
Mine is the default location for the GoG version of the game.

Just updated CP77 to version Patch 1.61 & getting the same problem.

I totally forgot to untick the "update game automatically" box after last fresh install. Game with mods was working OK until this update.

It looks like the update or incompatible mods are crashing the game?

I'm gonna' reinstall version 1.6 until further news...

Yes, MODs are an issue. Lots of people are complaining (reddit), because their game is crashing on v1.61, with mods installed.

Well, that certainly would break the game. I didn't even know patch 1.61 was out.

Mods, and especially the mod frameworks, need to support the current game version.
The supported game version is usually listed at the top of the mod description (at least for any properly labeled mods).

Here's what I see so far:
Disabled ALL mods and verified game at 1.61
Mod "Mod Settings" [mod_setting.zip] causes a crash to desktop
Mod "Input Loader"[input_loader.zip] causes a silent exit on startup (no load screen, nothing)

Other major resources (Cyber Engine Tweaks, redscript, red4 Extension, TweakXL, ArchiveXL) have been updated and are working.

Since a significant number of mods depend on these two, we'll have to wait or remove those dependent mods unless there is a RedMod version.

Or roll back to 1.6

@zvzulndr Thank you!!! I was getting the "silent exit". I was troubleshooting forever checking Drivers, Visual C++, just to find out it was the "input loader" folder sitting in red4ext. Thank you so much!
My game crashes to desktop right after the launch screen. Is here a solution? I don't have any mods, nothing xtra. I tried verifying and deleting save files. It won't launch from gog. It's 1.61 at the moment here
