Just happened to me. 6700k and 1070Ti. Reinstalled all the drivers and tried to run game w/ no GOG Galaxy, I suspect it will be a long time before scan is complete.
Yes, crashes repeatedly in main menu, character creation...then I could create one and right after confirming I see my hand and crash to desktop.
Unplayable game.
Yeah it usually crashes right after char creation, once I got to ingame for about 10 seconds and then crashed. Using latest nvidia drivers
Same. Win 7, GTX 970. DDU fresh driver install. Verified integrity. Disabled everything background wise. I'll either see the street start hand and crash, or the nomad mirror and crash, or corpo sink and crash.

Win7 + GTX 1080
Exactly the same results.
had the same problem..did a few things

1 - disabled smartscreen
2 - dl'd newest nvidia drivers
3 - disabled GOG overlay
4 - updated win to latest patch

I dunno which one of those worked, but it worked ;p
Same here. Super disappointed. Game updated, Win10 20H2, 2080S with 460.79 drivers, 5600x, Tomahawk B550 with latest beta bios.

Websearches say "hey thanks for the views, here's how we're gonna tell you to fix it" and say "update your drivers". WTF am I, some noob? Disable antivirus?

C'mon, I've been a 100%+ fan, built a new rig for this, and ... well ... I'm going back to Geralt.
So for me the instalation went well, i managed to enter the game, created the caracter and putted the perks. After all that i was about to start the game and as soon as i clicked to play, the game shuted down, and from there on i'm not being able to start it.. it only apears up until the red logo, and then it shut's down again. I got it from GOG Galaxy aswell tho.

Can anyone tell me if there's anything wrong or what.. ?

I'm running 7 with a GTX 970 myself with the latest drivers for everything. No dice. I installed using a downloaded offline installer. It worked well once but now it just crashed during the intro video. I've decided to say 'screw it' and try installing it with Galaxy. I"m not expecting much, but I've tried literally every other recommended 'fix' with zero results. Might as well try this too.

Windows 7-64, nvidia 1070 here. All drivers up to date. Yesterday the game would crash right after character creation, the first few seconds into the game. Now after the patch it crashes during the annoying advertisements (logos used in the game I guess) before the game even starts. The patch has made the game worse.
Same, no matter the settings, 5-10 secs after loading into game after character creation, crash. I have i7-3770, GTX 1060 3GB, 16 GB RAM. All new drivers, specially checked everything for CP77. It's nothing spectacular, but it well above the minimals they are claiming.

The game seems to crash due to nvidia driver crashing. Their drivers like to crash on demanding games, but it's the only one when I saw a full game crush due to it. Star Citizen and Witcher 3 also had the graphics driver crashing from time to time (rarely, but it happens), but it just cause a few seconds freeze and back to action then. CP77 seems to just instantly quit the process when it happens.

Tbh nvidia drivers sometimes even crash in 20 years old games on me, like Diablo 2, so I'm still pretty sure it is some error that cause such severe crash, but I wouldn't be surprised if nvidia claimed to them game would handle better with newest drivers and it just doesn't. Tho, still it's quite unnaceptable to release it with guaranteed crash seconds into the game on systems specs close or above recommended. Even if the recommendation is only for 1080p.
Not sure how the lightbulb went on, but for me it was my GPU OC in Afterburner. 2080S +100 core +1000 mem and it crashed to desktop immediately after character creation.

Turned OC off. No problem. +50 / +500 okay, up to +70 / +700 now. +80 / +80 crashed it in game.

Searching around suggested that RTX pushes the card harder, so the normal OC isn't stable. Control was like that too - ran it without OC on.

I was having similar crashes and the best luck I had - got me passed the "remove nomad badge patch" was to right click the desktop shortcut and SPECIFICALLY enable Windows 7 compatibility mode. Then I clicked on run as admin - that did the trick for me.

I'm on an AVX processor, but in another thread where I posted this a guy that I'm pretty sure has a NON-AVX processor was able to get up and running like this.

I suggest everyone here give it a shot as we all have similar speccs! Win 7 with Nvidia drivers.

I saw the suggestion to run the game in Win7 compatibility mode earlier this morning, and it does indeed work. I think everyone that's having the crash just after the beginning of the game to give it a try.
