DropA: The temperatures in Norway are certainly something completely different to here in Germany. Norway sounds interesting, would like to travel there ... maybe one day.
I'm sure we would appreciate that. :)

Though if you want to experience the Norwegian winter, but not the cold, come visit in February or March. November-January is when the cold is hitting, at least where I live. I had -41,5ºC on the dash on my drive to work December 2 years ago - I turned right back and called in I would not get to office that day, because it sounded like my car (diesel...) could stall on my at any time while driving.

If the winter is not what you seek, try June or August, and check out the coastline. Google "kystriksveien", and check if you see something you like. That's a cruise trip I would like to do myself one day.

DropA: I haven't started a real game in Cyberpunk 2077 yet, so far only with a TEST character. I was still unsure because the skill system was a bit overwhelming for me.

But that always takes me a lot of time .... I've been downloading the patch for almost 2 days now (and it still takes a while until it's finished downloading). I live in a village where there is currently no fast internet available. The game Cyberpunk 2077 was the biggest game I have ever downloaded from the internet.

I don't have the iguana-egg yet, but I had already made a note that I wouldn't forget the egg or the handgun lying there in this mission.
If you're doing a test game...would you want to check out the rest of the map? I got some teleport codes for just such an occasion, including some for Dogtown. Note that there probably won't be many people around, as the game triggers does not mean for you to be there yet. Got codes for the return journey too.

Know what you mean about the slow internet speed too...I was still on ADSL up until 2019 (I live like the Nightwish song: "over the hills and far away"), so any game or movie download would have to go overnight. And if it was a large game in multiple parts, it would take litteral days.

I remember wanting to play StarCraft 2 once...first there was a mandatory update for the Battle.net client, which took over 30 minutes...then a mandatory update for the game itself, which was also 30+ minutes. I left doing other things, and when all was done, I had forgotten which game I wanted to play. Remembered shortly after, but then I went with StarCraft 1, and was ingame in 30 seconds.

And this is why I now swear by GoG for their offline capable games - F**K Activision, EA, Valve and anyone else for having always online DRM!!

As to your notes, while in the top hotel room, don't forget the knife on the old man's body, and his sword on top of the roof (can get both shortly after the gun - you'll know when the doors are open).
Thank you. :)

Those are cold temperatures. We don't have temperatures like that here. In general, we've had another very mild winter here so far ... It has just snowed a little but the snow is already thawing again. It probably won't be a white Christmas again ... just like several years before.

I like winter ... I have more problems with the heat in summer.

Ah, you listen to "Nightwish"? Good taste in music.

For me, it was also the reason why I signed up for GOG back then, so that you have offline installation files and without horrible copy protection. My first purchase on GOG back then was "Neverwinter Nights" (the original from Bioware).

About Cyberpunk 2077:
Thanks for the offer with the codes to the map. But I'd rather explore the map myself later, when I've started a proper game. I don't want to know too much of the game beforehand.

To the Cyberpunk 2077 Patch:
I have now downloaded the patch 2.1, complete. I manually downloaded these offline install-files from the GOG website (I previously had the main game + Phantom Liberty -> both on version 2.02):

Patch (2.02 to 2.1) 2.1 1 MB
Patch (2.02 to 2.1) 2.1 4 GB
Patch (2.02 to 2.1) 2.1 4 GB
Patch (2.02 to 2.1) 2.1 4 GB
Patch (2.02 to 2.1) 2.1 4 GB
Patch (2.02 to 2.1) 2.1 4 GB
Patch (2.02 to 2.1) 2.1 4 GB
Patch (2.02 to 2.1) 2.1 4 GB

First the patch said it needed 300 GB of free space ... so I cleaned up the SSD a bit and then I was able to install it. Now when I start Cyberbunk 2077, the game tells me that Phantom Liberty does not match with the version number of the main game. It's as if I hadn't installed Phantom Liberty at all and I can no longer use it.

I'm starting to think the game doesn't like me and I'm not supposed to play it.

Btw: I hope that the English is reasonably understandable as I send everything through a translator because my own English skills are not very good.

I had the same error at first - I presume you do own Phantom Liberty (NOT included with the Cyberpunk 2077 base game), so you have to download and install the right version of the expansion as well.

If you check your game list, and see the 28 parts for the base game, scroll further down. If you own Phantom Liberty, it will be listed as 11 parts under "DLC installers". You need to download and install those as well.

The expansion patches are so cluttered ("EP1", "PhL"...), I don't bother with them.
I just downloaded the whole thing locally, renamed my current install folder to Cyberpunk 2077-2_0 and made a new install for 2.1 without touching anything else. That usually works perfectly, AND a new install bypasses any of the storage requirements that the patches has (though my 2 TB NVMe Game drive has never cared about that anyway).

And no worries, Google Translate or similar usually does a good job if your native grammar is good (and from what I see, it is very good!).
English isn't my native language either, but I've always been a stickler for grammar, and I like writing English better than Norwegian. ^^

Hi.

Yes, I have installed both ... I had downloaded the offline installation-files for both.

- Cyberpunk 2077 (Main-game - Version 2.02) = 99,44 GB
- Phantom Liberty (Expansion - Version 2.02) = 36,19 GB

I also installed both and I was able to choose at the start of the game whether I wanted to start the game: Normally or directly with Phantom Liberty.

Then I installed the patch 2.1 and this patched the main-game up to version 2.1 but Phantom Liberty remains on version 2.02. As a result, the expansion no longer works at all. I have reinstalled everything several times but it didn't help.

What would certainly help now would be to download the new offline installation-files 2.1 from the GOG page (for the main game and the expansion) but that would again mean running the PC completely for many days, day and night. It's no longer worth it to me because I have the feeling that I shouldn't play Cyberpunk 2077 because something always goes wrong.

It's just not meant to be. I just don't have any luck with games from CD Project RED.Too bad, but that's the way it is.
I see your problem (and I certainly know the feeling from my own ADSL days...). Can't speak for letting the computer run for days on end, because that is what I do, constantly. I give it a restart about every month to flush the RAM, but other than that, it's running 24/7. And my home-network file server too. And the power hungry 10 Gbit switches that everything is connected to.

But I do get the annoyance. And I certainly get the confusion regarding the Phantom Liberty patch files, because they don't make any sense to me. Which was why I took the route of downloading everything fram scratch with the 2.1 patch, and did a new game install for the 3rd time (1.6, 2.0 and 2.1)...

I would to argue why you don't want to keep your PC running - where I live, it's cold AF, and I could do with the extra heat from the PC, even when it's only idling, but I'm sure you got your reasons. But after all the hassle you have already had...it would be a shame not to even play the game anymore. :(

Do you have the offline files for 2.0? If you do, and you had the game working at 2.0, there is no real reason to play the game at 2.1, unless there are features that you would want (and honestly, if there are, you should take the time to download everything one more time). Just my number of Cents on that one.

Hi.

Thanks for your words.

I used to leave my PC switched on for a few days without any problems (also for downloads). In the meantime, things have changed for me and energy costs in Germany have exploded (partly because Germany recently stopped having any active nuclear power plants and will have completely phased out nuclear power by 2023). Electricity bills have therefore risen sharply and basically electricity is now really a luxury item - added to this is noticeable inflation and the sharp rise in heating-costs (even if German politicians are now talking about prices having recovered in the meantime but prices are being increased elsewhere).

Yes, I have the complete offline installation files for version 2.02 here, from the main game and Phantom Liberty. I'll have to reinstall them (for what feels like the 1,000th time now). Somehow I'm no longer interested in Cyberpunk 2077. The first few hours in the game were fun, but there are also several other things that spoil the fun for me (when you find notes and want to read them - this blue font in the game, for example, with this glow effect that quickly gives you a headache and so on).

I'll probably wait until summer 2024 until Cyberpunk 2077 has finally gotten all the updates (and no new ones are coming) and then re-download the offline installation files.

In any case, many thanks(!) for your help and patience.

Sounds like we got the same issue regarding the power. For some reason, Norwegian politicians still wants to send our own, cleanly produced power (water, wind) out of the country, and import gas power back. Causing power prices for us to go up. But I'm stopping this particular discussion here, I don't talk politics online.

As to your font issue, could you take a screenshot of the font you got an issue with and attach here.
Or look at the 2 screenshots I have attached - the Johnny HUD got different colours, is that one better than the standard?

The Johnny HUD is a special HUD colour you temporarily get in the game at certain points. But it can be activated at any time with a console code.

Looking at the screenshots now, I assume the issue is the yellow quest font halo? Because I see a glow around the letters there, but it has not been an issue for me.

If that font halo causes you headaches, you should check if the same issue can replicated elsewhere, because that is not healthy for your eyes over time. I got sensitive eyes, so there are many monitors I simply cannot use as a result. An IPS-panel with PWM-controlled backlight and an aggressive anti-glare coating is the worst for me.

Which monitor do you have exactly? If you got an ISP-panel, it could have something called "IPS glow" (causing a back glow around a bright font on a dark background). That's an issue with all IPS-panels, but some more than others, especially cheaper panels.
Possible solution: have you tried turning down the screen brightness?

There could also be an aggressive anti-glare coating on your monitor, causing a "smearing" effect on all fonts displayed, also exaggerating the issue. For me, anything with "3H Hard Coat" (typically on Philips and HP monitors) is unusable for me.
I am personally very susceptible to that smearing, so all IPS-screens I have tried has been a no-go for me.
Possible solution: do you have another monitor (preferably VA or TN-panel) to test with?

I can imagine such a glow being especially annoying on low refresh rate monitors (typically 60 Hz screens). While I have been spoiled by my current three 165 Hz monitors, a moving glow point "stuttering" across the screen is really noticable. For gaming, I recommend a 120 Hz monitor. Unless you got the hardware horsepower to play at more than 120 FPS, I'd say you don't need a monitor with a higher refresh rate than 120. But 120 Hz is a HUGE difference from a 60 Hz monitor!

Other things that could help: get some more light in your room, preferably uplights (like 2x mother with child lamps, one on each side of you), with no light shining directly at you. You want the light flicker free and evenly spread out in your peripheral vision. If you get lamps with the R7s socket, and not with integrated LED, get some Philips or Osram dimmable R7s LED-bulbs to save on power.

I got a test that I do on new monitors to see if it will give me any issues later on:
Turn off the light in the room, turn the screen brightness to all the way down, open a text editor and fullscreen it, and type some words on it. Then move right up to the monitor, so the nose is almost touching the panel, and focus on a single word without blinking for a few seconds. If it feels like I see blue, sharp flashes (feels like a sting in the eye), it got PWM-flickering. If the edge of the font still feels fuzzy or smeared, it got aggressive anti-glare coating. Both are causes for a return of the screen for me.

Here's my current setup if you would like some insipration (direct link to an image on a Norwegian forum):

Hello there,
I have the Goodies Collection on GoG but I wanna buy the Ultimate Edition on Steam. Anybody know if I can download/get/redeem/use the Goodies from GoG and use/play them on Steam?

Which goodies exactly are you referring to?

The "DLCs" are content pushed into your save game through the GoG Galaxy game client (but seriously, don't use that crap), and unless the save games are interchangable between the GoG and Steam version of the game, that's a no to your question.

Online games usuly have online clouds for this kind of thing. I don't know about this one but I know there is an account for a browser link. I saw this info on Prime Gaming Cyberpunk Reward.

So I guess have some common online clouds, I hope so but I think to buy it from Steam. I prefer from GoG to get those Goodies too.

PaladinNO: ...
Hello.

Sorry again for the very late reply.

About the HUD interface: At the moment I don't have Cyberpunk 2077 installed anymore so I can't take a screenshot. Cyberpunk 2077 is my first real game from CD Projekt RED and it doesn't seem to motivate me enough - rather just frustrate me (although it's certainly a great game). The Johnny HUD looks a bit better than the one with the yellow lettering (which is already very bright in my opinion). In the game itself you often find notes, books to read ... they are written in a thick blue font. And this font in particular glows strongly - it has a "glow" effect.

It is precisely this "glow" around the font (which you mention) that has been a problem for me in the long term. I did find modifications that allowed me to change the whole font, but somehow it didn't work properly. And after a while I didn't have the nerve to deal with it anymore. With patch 2.1, CD Projekt RED did a lot for accessibility - they should have included an option to remove this glow from the font (in the HUD, in books, in help texts and so on).

I know from other PC games (especially in RPGs) that I often find the font too small ... Cyberpunk 2077 is the first game where I've seen such a font with a glow effect.

You have a really great setup (!) ... which i can see in the picture you linked. The room also looks cozy, and I only have one monitor myself (BenQ GL2580HM) - it's a bit older. My monitor has a maximum resolution of 1920x1080 at 60Hz. The "IPS glow" you mention doesn't mean anything to me right now. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with it. I turned the screen brightness down a bit but that didn't help. In general, I find Windows 11 brighter than my previous Windows 7.

No, I don't have another monitor to test. As I said, this one is quite old but it should last quite a while.

Thanks for your tip about testing the monitor (last paragraph). That sounds interesting and I'll make a note of it so I don't forget it as a tip!

Personally, I always have the problem with this TAA graphics mode (edge smoothing) in newer games. When I move my character, everything gets blurred for a moment (not because of the motion blur but because of this TAA mode). Some people are not bothered by this and I read from some that this is extreme at a low resolution. In any case, I unfortunately also notice this with Cyberpunk 2077.

I wish you a Merry Christmas (if you celebrate Christmas) and happy holidays!

Best wishes!

If you're referrnng to the Amazon Prime Gaming exclusive weapons, as I have already explained in this thread: don't bother.
Just install the mod console, and then there are codes for just about everything.
I got the Twitch esclusive "NUSA" clothing set this way, and I don't even have a Twitch account.

The whole point of GoG, is so we do NOT need a "cloud" for this kind of stuff. And in the case of Cyberpunk 2077 in particular, with the console, there is no need for anything cloud based.
