mrnw10: Hey guys just thought i would share this incase it helps somebody. I was getting that Cyberpunk flatlined error everytime i clicked on the game launcher icon on my desktop or through the gog launcher. What worked for me (depending on what GPU you have! I had nvidia 2070 Super). Go to the nvidia experience application and make sure you have the latest drivers. Next click launch game from there. Dont click optimise the game just yet as it wont work. The game needs to launch at least once before you can use that option.

Hope this helps somebody!
Do i really need Nvidia Experience? cuz i only updated graphic card drivers still same problem with flatlined my card is 1070TI
It seems that Cyberpunk 2077 expects DirectX12 ULTIMATE, which requires Windows10 v2004. BUT and it is a big BUT, my Windows10 1607 will not update to v2004. I have DirectX12 installed and my dxdiag tells me that there are NO problems with it. So i guess it is this DirectX12 ULTIMATE bull$hit, that crashes our games.

Emin3mD12: Here my main issue, as a lot of ''feels guys'' in this forum

Gpu Crash for unknown reasons! Callstack here is probably irrelevant. Check if Breadcrumbs or Aftermath logged anything useful.
File: e:\r6.patch0hotfix2\dev\src\common\gpuapi\src\dx12\gpuapidx12error.cpp(40)

Windows 10 LTSB v1607 (Build: 14393.4104)

If it can help, no one of this games crashes in my previous attempts and after Cyberpunk 2077 release:

The Witcher 3, Dragon Ball Z Kakarot, The Crew 2, Resident Evil 5, GTA 5,
Street of Rage 4, Assassin Creed Valhalla, Fall Guys, League of Legends.
NONE of these games use DirectX12 or DirectX12 Ultimate. I can not start any DirectX12 game with Windows10 v1607. Try a game like Red Dead Redemption 2 and tell us, it is working.

Yeah i played RDR 2 too, but i can not currently play it. Both games expect DirectX12 Ultimate now.

I find it implausible that Cyberpunk 2077 (announced by CDPR on May 2012) was built around DirectX 12 Ultimate, announced by Microsoft 8 years later on March 2020.

It is very plausible, because only Direct X12 Ultimate supports all the new RTX $hit. If you can read german, here is the proof: https://www.gamestar.de/artikel/cyberpunk-2077-windows-directx-12,3359445.html

The blog is from July 2020 btw. It is a shame to release a game like this. Worst release in decades.

It runs on win 7, does that even have dx ultimate. Also it says that it doesn't need the ultimate version it just adds certain things?

You might not need it but thats what worked for me. I suggest you download it and give it a go.

Here is the link:

Good Luck
After in-place-upgrading my Win 10 LTSB 1607 to Win 10 LTSC 1809 the game starts without getting the flatline error:

Message: Gpu Crash for unknown reasons! Callstack here is probably irrelevant. Check if Breadcrumbs or Aftermath logged anything useful.

2 hours in so far, no crashes. So the current version does not run on Win 10 LTSB 1607. Either wait for a fix or upgrade to LTSC 1809. The upgrade kept all my apps and settings.

00ash: the game failing to load in a config file like mine and at least one other persons error is nothing to do with our systems.

Krydez: true and I tried reinstalling gog as well as cyberpunk and nothing worked
omg dude,

so i noticed we both had our games installed on a D: drive... you have a seperate drive for games like me i assume,

so today i was like... maybe ill reinstall it on the c drive at GOGs default installation folder. and it worked! right now im at game menu.. havent actually played yet so i dunno if it will still crash while playing.

initially, trying to start it from gog galaxy actually didnt work. it didnt start but i also didnt get the crash error anymore. So i navigated to the folder and just stated from the cyberpunk .exe and it worked that way.

hope this helps you too.

So, just to put a concise post up, my basic specs are:
- Windows 10 (build 1607)
- GTX 1070 laptop
- 460.79 drivers

And I got this exception on startup:

Error reason: Assert
Expression: <Unknown>
Message: Gpu Crash for unknown reasons! Callstack here is probably irrelevant. Check if Breadcrumbs or Aftermath logged anything useful.
File: e:\r6.patch0hotfix2\dev\src\common\gpuapi\src\dx12\gpuapidx12error.cpp(40)

Whilst running build 1607, I did a clean install of drivers and could not get rid of this exception.

I then did a completely clean install of Windows (in place upgrades tend to leave old stuff behind but are definitely easier) and did the following:

- Windows build 19042 (20H2)
- 460.79 drivers
- .NET 3.5 manual install from Windows source (not sure if required for this, but I needed it)
- All VC runtimes from 2005 to 2019
- DirectX installs from older versions (older games tend to need these)

And started up Cyberpunk 2077 with no issues.

I would imagine that this game requires a specific build of Windows and 1607 is too old, probably as others say, related to DX12.

The ability for this game to run on Windows 7 is interesting as it looks like there are specific wrappers for it or something like it. Not sure why Windows 7 is targeted, but Windows 8 and earlier builds of Windows 10 seem to not be supported.

So if you're getting an exception like the above and are on build 1607 of Windows 10, I would recommend upgrading, it definitely fixed the issue for me.
Having the same problem, tried reinstalling the game, clean boot, updating drivers, windows version, reinstalling gog galaxy, uninstalling and reinstalling the microsoft v++ versions

Now going to try installing it to the C:drive

Feel pretty knackered from work so trying to trouble shoot this today is pretty exhausting, not sure If I’m up for reinstalling windows

Hope you guys get lucky :)
Game ran fine for me last night & this morning: Windows 10, AMD Ryzen 7, GTX 1080, 32gb RAM, latest drivers.

I am only running 1080p / 60hz (and obviously no RTX shit on).

Maybe double check memory timings, I know I have had games melt down because I wasn't running the default settings.
