Well, this sucks.

It is what it is, and the game will probably be better off for it, but the communication about this is awful. I bought the game well over a year ago. I paid them real world money for a product they promised to deliver come April. Then they delayed for five months. Now they've delayed for another two months.

Yet despite taking my money, they have not offered any kind of communication whatsoever, save some fucking universal tweets, basically letting the whole world know that they are oh-so-sorry but please wait around. Which is fine, except tweets are to communication what dogshit is to gourmet sandwiches. And they're doing the same communication for everyone, meaning people who bought the game early have basically sod all to show for it.

I'm not really grumpy about them wanting the game to not be released until it is done. I do software for a living. I understand that bit. But fucking talk to the people who bought your shit and let them know. Give them a digital postcard. A cool screenshot. Give them something.

Fucking anything to tell people "thank you for supporting us, thank you for trusting us with your money a fucking year and half before we're maybe going to release the game".

But nope. Crickets. Fucking crickets everywhere. Except to the pestilence that are "game reviewers". And I'm guessing evem the SoMe bigwigs will get the game for free, probably months in advance, so they can produce a fuckton of content. There's probably even going to be a Christmas sale or some shit too, at which point people can come around and buy the game at a discount a month after actual release, whereas we who bought the game early are just given a digital finger.

God damn cretins can't even get around to posting a "sorry about that" note on their own god damn forum. How pathetic is that? It would take them around 120 seconds to appreciate the people who believed in them, who stuck with them, who didn't refund even though it's the only sensible thing to do. And they can't even be fucking bothered to do that.

I got to say, I love CDPR, I'm probably still going to drop some serious money on better hardware largely just for this game, and I am not contemplating a refund for a second... But right now I sure am feeling just a tiny bit unappreciated.
I would reather they delay the game then push out a buggy mess. Everybody should just hang in there until the release and be thankful that you will get a better product or a refund if you want it.

lace_gardenia: Well, that's too bad. Hopefully it will be worth it though.

oh, and perhaps we could hope for some system specs soon...? ;)
Since the game is complete according to them. they should fo what Volition did before Saints Row 3 came out, which was release the character creator. Fans were able to download it and then create their character a head of time and then import them into the game when it came out.

It would at least be something to tide fans over for a little while.

Can't release a demo for fans but select game journalist get the game way ahead of time.

lace_gardenia: yeah, a character-editor-demo-thing would be awesome actually...

I had a blast with the character creator before Saints Row 3 came out. It did a good job of making the wait better.
Also Volition had it setup to where fans could share their characters with other fans and you could even import other fans characters into your game if I remember correctly. I created Freddie Mercury.
Last week or so "Everythings on track for September release". New hardware coinsides with the delay...... I won't mind though.
It hurts.

It hurts.
I understand, I'll wait patiently, but I still don't like it.
They pushed it back so they can tout it as a next gen console launch game, probably the Xboxwhateveritscalled, seems kinda obvious to me. Need I remind you, they put Keanu Reeves on stage at an XBOX event to announce the "release date". Personally I preordered what was supposed to be a "PC focused" game, I guess a check from Microsoft made that go out the window. But as The Who say, I won't get fooled again.

I kind of doubt that. They wouldn't have been talking about it being on schedule for release in an investor's meeting a couple of weeks ago if they were going to push it just to fit with a console launch. Also, what good would that branding do? It's not like CP77 isn't already hyped and it's not like people will have forgotten about it in two months.

What seems more likely to me is that they stumbled over a major clusterfuck in the game that they simply could not unfuck in the time available. It would have to be pretty big to warrant a delay, so it is probably fairly game-breaking, and it would have to require a lot of time, so probably something that forces them to redo a fair bit of QA.

My guess, one of the later quests goes haywire on the AI under certain conditions and they have to change the format of the AI packages to fix it. And then they have to make sure that the fixed up AI scripting is still working everywhere else.

But that's just pulled out of my rear, obviously. It could be anything. Maybe they've just taken a fresh look at their "known issues" list and noticed that there's still a thousand items in it and only 100 days left, and that just would not do. But I guess we will see.

I don't think they'd pull a stunt like this for fun, though. Every time they screw up an announced deadline, they're paying a high cost in credibility, and credibility is one of their main advantages. If they give that up for no particular reason, they'd be absolute jackasses. And they don't appear to be that, IMO.

I want you to be right but the last 7-10 years of video gaming have made me a very cynical and pessimistic person. Also CDP/CDPR are publicly traded and shareholders/investors couldn't care less about credibility. This development of this game has had so many missteps it's starting to sour my opinion of it and the company as much as I don't want it to.

Either way I'm already bought in so time will tell, I just don't want this to be something they kneecap for a paycheck.
I'm not trying to be greedy, really, but....

Can they maybe look into giving a Steam key along with the gog preorder? I pre-ordered here wanting to support the devs, but the longer the game is delayed the more I start thinking. "If I buy it on Steam, I'll probably eventually have it on GOG through GOGConnect or a promotion like they just did for Witcher 3; but if I keep my preorder here, the reverse is highly unlikely."

I say "look into" because, yes, I am aware there are obstacles to making sure people don't buy it on Gog and sell such a Steam key at a discount to make most of their cost back. I'm just saying, it'd be nice if they found a way.
