I have a question but I am ignorant when it comes to game development. Is it possible to fix the AI in this game or is it some how "baked" into the game?

It would not be an easy fix - but as anything it is doable of course.
It could be that they had stuff working beyond what's possible in the game currently, in which case it would be a matter of fixing something, but it could otherwise be that it just needs developing. The non hostile AI seems to be in some sort of showroom mode where it is not really meant to be poked at, but look good from a distance during presentations. Not enough is known about this, I think.

However, even if they do eventually end up bringing their non hostile AI to contemporary standards, the big question is whether they are going to rework already developed quests to leverage it. The main quest, for example, currently features no chase sequence that isn't a developer driven set piece. The game just can't handle that.

Seeing how a pedestrians AI improvement mod has shown increased CPU load and on the other hand lots of people expecting this game to run on almost decade old devices, I'd say it is less of a question "can it be done" and more "at what cost it could be done?".

In a next 3 to 5 year perspective, when we finally say goodby to last gen consoles and PC "veterans" finally "modernize" they setup to something more along the 2018~2020 specs, it will perhaps be a non-issue.

But for now? I highly doubt they will even try to make it much better.
There are mods out there now that correct a fair bit of the ai behaviours, Especially the Lazy enemy guys that lean on stuff holding their gun and stare at you in combat seriously.

I can run into a place with a bat and just knock them all down.

I know you really like this game and that is fair, but please tell me what is so special about AI in Cyberpunk that makes it stand out from other games with similar number of meaningful NPCs which actually managed to do it substantially better? Why does this one title deserve to be forgiven for running not so well even on good specs?

I suggest a very well thought out comparison between this AI and mainly, another game's AI, with a much better speaker than I am..

That's the game I'm playing right now, and yes, enemies behave far, far better and certainly more believable.

The answer you are likely to get is that the number of NPCs in that other game are far less and therefore it is a bad comparison. Although number of NPCs that actually do something meaningful in Cyberpunk (not just stand around) is the same.

Not in a illion years is this comparison bad, though, AI better than this was promised, and nowhere near delivered for even stall shop NPC's or even weightlifters who ignore you when you kill one of their buddies with an accident hack..

I agree - no need to convince me :))

I do not think AI here is special. On the contrary - I see how it could be improved and make game even better. I just do not think that in short time perspective they will work on making radically different. Minor tweaks (LoS in fight, maybe better traffic) - yes, bigger changes (like implementing daily routines to civilians / bystanders NPC or reacting to hacking gym equipment) - unlikely.

As for all the rest (here or in any other topic) - I do acknowledge the game shortcomings yet I like the game for what it tries to be already and I can enjoy it despite many issues.
I will not argue with people who wanted to play something like "Deus Scrolls: Grand Witcher Redemption 2077 - XXX edition". I do not find it entertaining nor productive, so I just pass.

Oh, we are getting to insults now, are we? It is particularly amusing of you to bring in the nudity subject into this topic after complaining about discussion going offtopic in a separate thread. Don't forget to read the messages before responding.

I've only responded to your arguments here and stayed on topic - as you claimed that somehow our PCs are unable to run this allegedly complex game world which I don't think is the case.
GTA 3 a near 20 year old game has npc's that react better than CP2077 and they got the minimap and driving right in that compared to CP2077.

There a Minecraft mods that do a decent Minmap 57k in size with textures and it ooks better than CP2077's Minimap.
FOR 2020 you were not able to move the Minimap to other corners of the screen and the current mod option is limited to setting it only before loading the game and changing it requires exiting the game.
