LinuxFire: DirectX for W7 will remain the same forever, it no longer has any development.

If it does not develop CP2077 for W7
No chance of that happening!
You are a minority now, sorry :-/

Yunipuma: You seem to miss the point of my post. Cyberpunk 2077 is Directx 12 game that coming to Win7. So I 'm only wondering how exactly it will be done & if there are some req. besides SP1.
I think CDProjekt is going to do the same that Blizzard has done with World of Warcraft. You can run WOW in Windows 7 using DX12. The developers have modified the game to run DX12 in Win7. Of course, some graphics options such as RayTracing are not going to be available in Win7. Win7 users won't need to do anything. DX12 will be inside the game in some way. The only thing a Win7 user may need to do is to update the graphics drivers to the latest version.

K, so I'll wait and see how it will go.
see my post in the other thread, it seems that W7 is supported and rather moderate HW reqs. No word of Linux yet.

Incorrect. Ray tracing is a DX12 thing, not a Win 10 thing. DX12 games on Win 7 support ray tracing.

Thanks for the laugh :-D
Luckily no fake joy, no one uses Vista anymore.

The situation still isn't clear to me.

I'm glad to see that CDPR is releasing C2077 for Windows 7--it's a smart move for CDPR, and a great move for gamers who aren't willing to surrender freedom for a measure of convenience (and who thus deserve both :P).

But when reading about World of Warcraft, I was under the impression that the DX12 implementation for Windows 7 was only a partial implementation, intended only to allow WoW to function.

If this is not true, then there is nothing to worry about, but if it is, it seemed to me as if C2077 wouldn't necessariy offer the same experience on Windows 7 as on Windows 10.
All this confusion over Win 7 DirectX 12 for Cyberpunk 2077 is why I will be waiting for the end of November to see what actually happens for end users. No preorders because of this situation.

If my Win 7 PC can't run this game, I guess I have to get the PS4 version. I hope this is not the case and that I can give the full $60 to CD Projekt for the GoG version.

I'm still on Win 7 for now, and despise Win 10, so I support your unwillingness to downgrade....but at the same time, I really hate to see anyone give his money to support Big Console's One-Size-Fits-All, top-to-bottom control over the gaming experience instead of the open market of PC.

I would normally be with you 100% regarding PC games over console games. But I want my PC to be a single place for all my games (except the 4 exclusive games I have on my PS4). Win 10 just has too many problems with older PC games.

On the other hand, Win 7 is butter smooth with every game that was released post 1999 and almost all of those games before 1999 are available on GoG, adapted for Win 7.

I plan to wait a few weeks, see how the reviews for Cyberpunk 2077 turn out, check the forums for how it runs on Windows 7, check some YouTuber reviews, watch a few Let's Plays for the intro sequence, before I buy it on GoG or PS4.

Yes....among all of the other serious issues, this is exactly the conclusion I formed after seeing innumerable Steam down-thumbs for older games in which tech problems are blamed...and sure enough, the user is running Win 10.

But I started to question that after a few people claimed they had no problem with older games. Now it's much easier for me to believe that these people only tested a microscopic fraction of all the games from ~1998+, and/or are perhaps being....overly defensive of Win 10.

I also run Win 7 for older games. It's at least post-1997, though, as I run Unreal and Half-Life, which were released in 1998 (Valve since changed HL to OpenGL, but nevertheless it ran fine on Win 7 prior to that).
So, obviously the delays are taking most people's attention, BUT, well after the reveal that they were working on providing Win7 compatibility (and have been for a while) do we have concrete news on if that is still going to be the case?

I mean i see Windows 7 is in the 'minimum requirements', so does that mean it is a done deal?

I'm keeping in mind 'promises' other games industry people/companies have made in the past (Elite:Dangerous will be single player, Star Citizen will come out soon etc).

Do we have new info on the Windows 7 situation re Cyberpunk2077?
This is the first game I've gotten excited about in years. I'm upgrading my Win7 box to an 8 core Ryzen 7. Haven't decided on a new video card yet, but it'll be an Nvidia because I've also got some ML projects coming up. I hope very much that CP77 will work on Windows 7 with DX11 or will come with whatever files it needs to install to do its DX12 things. Win7 is the final version of Windows for me, and since I don't ever connect it to the Internet for privacy and security reasons, I'm concerned about the lack of a DirectX12 standalone redistributable installer for it. Hopefully we'll be able to figure out what files are needed and cobble together an offline DX12 install pack of some kind if there are any problems getting CP77 running on an offline Windows 7.

Edit: After digging into this a little more I'm starting to think that there's a good chance that 2077 will come with what it needs and install on an offline Win7 DX11 box just fine, or at least that's the goal. That may also be why the requirements seem a little ambiguous. It's not DX12 per se, it's doing what's needed on Win7 to get the DX12 API for access to certain GPU features working.

I hadn't heard anything about the absence of a locally installable download--that seems odd to me, as it would be contrary to the method with which all other DRM-free games are installed from GOG.

But at any rate, I don't see any reason for assuming that C2077 wouldn't run on a (Windows 7) PC without an internet connection, as that is one of the benefits of a DRM-free game.
