MysterD: Would be interesting to see, if Microsoft ever decides to add DX12 support to W8.1 - but, I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Just not enough users really, which sucks as it IS still in support, unlike W7. Still i was glad to stick with W7 through the 'bad years' at MS, and it also forced me to check out Linux Mint which i like very much and is my main online OS now. So MS sucking so bad for so long (since Windows 8) drove me to Linux, and for that i am grateful :)

MysterD: I don't know if there's really enough numbers of Linux or Proton users right now, for it to run officially on versions of Linux. I'd be curious to see if CDP gets it going on Linux, Proton, or something of that sort officially - as that might make those happy that don't want to deal w/ W10...but it sure doesn't seem like it, right now.

I probably don't look or pay enough to Linux and whatnot - but does WINE on Linux support DX12 yet? Could it be possible for users to get CP 2077 running on Linux with WINE?
As far I know, support for DX12 in form of VKD3D is build in in Proton and even if Cyberpunk 2077 won't run well or at all on Linux, it's a matter of time till it run well, just as it was with Witcher 3. The only show stopper would be DRM, but since there is GOG, there will be some install script through Lutris that will make it run, so it's more than likely that Cyberpunk will work on Linux at some point, no matter if CD Project Red will help or not. ::::::
I don't wanna hurt somebody feelings or financial situation, but you really need to move on. My opinion and my advice is that windows7 in an obsolete OS and you should stop using it (security, not supported anymore etc.), for GAMERS at least. 2009 os... 11 years passed ! :D If you are ready to spend 60$+ for an AAA+ game, why wouldn't you invest in some PC parts and maybe OS.

I find it amusing that so many people cite "security" as a reason for ditching anything in favor of W10.

You do realize that with 10, Microsoft has full and absolute control of your computer, can add or remove software, or break your whole OS at any time? MS has essentially a rootkit on every 10 PC by design. And if MS can do that, so can any hacker who figures out to use the method MS does.

By design, Windows 10 has ZERO security.

Not only that, MS QA has become a real disaster. Abysmal. Updates are forced onto you (unless you use hacks), but they so often break things (eternal reboots, data loss) that it feels like you're dealing with a beginner's product thrown together in some backyard, not the product of a professional team of a huge corporation.
I've never been a fan of MS, but this lack of quality standards is shocking.
No need to worry anymore!
I'm on Windows 8.1 because it resolves the performance limitations of Windows 7 and it's not Windows 10. I think everyone who likes Windows 7 but feels uncomfortable with Windows 10 should ideally be here but instead it's largely forgotten so no version of Cyberpunk for me.

I agree that Microsoft should have included Win 8.1 if it bothered to keep Win 7 support for DirectX 12.

But what performance limitations are you talking about for Win 7? I stuck with Win 7 because for a lot of older games, Win 7 is the last Windows OS with decent compatibility. Never noticed a performance limitation that was not solved with a good SSD.

I got a lot of stutter with Windows 7 in games on 7600k no matter what I tried that Windows 8.1 removed. The worst example is Shadow of the Tomb Raider which is practically unplayable on 7 but silky smooth on 8.1. But even less demanding games like Dear Esther would have stutter streaming from SSD.

In all friendship, formerly on Windows allow me:
I’m willing to spend $300 on an operating system like Linux Mint.
ps: it’s free but we can donate.

Microsoft has invested millions to make Windows applications compatible at the 1st level, with their new Linux kernel, which integrates W10 in addition to their kernel.
It works so well that a new Linux distribution uses (.exe) as Windows.
DirectX is simply Vulkan with ~30% more scripting for encrypted, to not run on any other OS than W10.

Windows 10 works almost like a Linux distribution now, (with bugs)
Of course they kept the administrator rights so the control, this makes the end user a guest account.
There must be a project, but I’m not sure I understand what it is.
For the moment I am not about to return to a Windows OS.
I feel a threat of compatibility for games developed for a single OS that undergoes such a strong modification.
it’s just my opinion.

People on W7 are in trouble, but I doubt a reason of money !
That said I do not advise coming to Linux for gamers, where not without warning:
Proton is like an emulator, and just on Steam!
Much less Native game!
Linux OS is often ignored!

Well well well! Such good news! Now I only want to know how exactly Direct 12 game is going to be installed on my Windows 7 (meaning - what updates & drivers I should get inorder for it to work).

DirectX for W7 will remain the same forever, it no longer has any development.

If it does not develop CP2077 for W7
No chance of that happening!
You are a minority now, sorry :-/

You seem to miss the point of my post. Cyberpunk 2077 is Directx 12 game that coming to Win7. So I 'm only wondering how exactly it will be done & if there are some req. besides SP1.
