V0id94: The biggest lie of Cyberpunk 2077 is the story. Which was changed, and CDPR didn't tell that.

I wish they followed with their promised and gave us the original game we were supposed to get with V and Jackie story of rising to the top of night city, As someone that followed the game from 2018 I know that this version was 85% ready in 2018 but because of Keanu they scraped this version with the future.

The sad part is that even in 2020 they still tried to show us that the story wasn't changed

The diner and seize the day trilers still allude to the story of rags to riches

Such lies , and the biggest slap in the face is the biggining of the game. CDPR needs to fix the story and add content after they fix the bugs.
Exactly what we got was not what many of us paid for. Seems like CDPR flipped the switch in 2018, pandered to a big Hollywood name. Instead of the deep, rich RPG, driven by story & dialogue, player decisions with an FPS focus we got stuck with an on rails mediocre looter/shooter & Keanu Reeves, shallow, gameplay, multiple broken/poorly developed game systems, broken to non existent AI, a pitifully short main story, a handful of interesting character driven side missions and endless boring repetitive filler to pad out the rest of the game, with near zero replay value...

CDPR outright lied about the state of the game and it's direction, the most anticipated game of the decade is now the most disappointing and misleading game of the decade. Game will likely be patched, yet the game many of us wanted is gone...

As for CDPR personally I will not pre order or buy their games at launch again as they have only served to illustrate that they are no better than many others, actually worse with lies, compounded by lies and media manipulation.

They could at least be honest and say that they changed the direction of the game.

Likely all down to time and mostly money, equally CDPR should have been far more up front as the game they released is not the game they sold or promised, not close. Cyberpunk 2077 is little more than a looter/shooter with a high level of graphics, and a low level of replay value as main story and character driven missions are simply on rails.

CDPR has preached for years that they were different, now we see that's not the case at all and they are just as happy to apply lies and deception to boost sales...

Yep, and they are in super damage control mode on their main forums, banning anyone daring to point out facts that upsets their rabid fans attacking anyone speaking out.

They are now just another EA, Epic Games or otherwise, nothing but a corpo, not trustworthy and a AAA liar like the rest.

Unless they No Man's Sky this..

If they don't get a good patch and fix the glaring issues.

I will resort to simply no longer buying games I will still play them.

All the publishers have driven me away from them.

EA especially, Square Enix and Warner Bros are as bad as each other.

I absolutely cannot blame you fellow gamer and I hope it doesn't come down to that being the only case to not get ripped off buying new AAA games anymore. Hiowever, CDPR's rep is going to be the hardest for them to regain here, even if I buy from them ever again.

Fallout 4 took 6 months after release and that was down to the game not even loading for many others it was the terrible performance, Dishonoured 2 also another Nvidia tampering victim but both related to Zenimax Media, I will give it time.

Zenimax and Bethesda care so much about quality, that they sold everything to Microsoft. That conglomerate of studios was always private in terms of shareholders and investors, we are never going to have any data of how much shit hited the fan in the past decade, not as we see with CDPR.

It is unfortunate that the gaming industry consolidated to the extent that it did - as a result we have less variety and lower quality (same as with motion picture industry) of the end product with exception of the visuals. Black Isle Studios, Bioware, Obsidian, Bethesda have now all been absorbed one way or another into large corporates and I have no faith in Microsoft's ability to bring out the best creativity and originality. Fallout 12, Elder Scrolls 25 and so forth instead of new IP and new worlds.

Well, game studios are business, the age of creative people sleeping under the desk because it was super fun to be there, doing something that was like wizard works is long gone. Now is always a hell of a schedule, way more difficult to become staff member, besides a project contract that´s end when the product launchs, and bonuses only if marks are conquered.

I am not good to write in details, but the book Masters of DOOM describes a good picture of that era.

They all have paid shills that mod their forums respectively and people lap it up and side with them it's insanity, the general public just eat up gold spray painted turds and say yum more more, For some time I've considered renting a vps or bbsforum using it to having discussion there, A place that these companies fear for because Facebook YouTube protect their bad practises for revenue.

I wonder what something like EA pays to mitigate negative users responses, I bet it's upward of $500,000 USD a year.

Optimised games resulted in this tricks with engines to appear on screen to be doing more than it actually was etc people were allowed to use their creativity to better it, Suits have ruined so much and people need to say PUBLISHER not DEVELOPER when insulting most of those company's i've seen the community mod work and creations of people who then say, "Going on Hiatus from these projects as I've just signed an NDA with Can't say but big things" These people get eaten by that system of contracts and BS never to be seen again and then things like the GIGALEAK happen,

It's the Publishers it's Marketing it's the useless people the middle men who twist the knife for more blood.

Funny, because this thread title was exactly what went through my head the moment the ‘beginnings’ montage played, showing us all the early and natural character development ripe for the picking - bundled instead into a 30s cutscene.

Literally what you said can be applied to Fallout 76 but it was far worse, Plus your avatar is Todd Howard with a Revolver.

It's not funny now.
