Jimbo_G: i see the left wing Nazi forum moderators have deleted the other thread because someone got their feelings hurt. Ever heard of the 1st amendment?

Morwyn Kelm: That doesn't apply to a private organization's services. Their site, their rules.
Yes it does. health and safety doesn't end because its a private company. Freedom of speech doesnt end because it meets the internet.

Freedom of Speech, and Health and Safety are two entirely different things managed by entirely different laws, so let's only focus on the relevant one.

Let's look at Article 10 of the The Humans Rights Act.

"1. Everyone has the right to freedom of expression. This right shall include freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart information and ideas without interference by public authority and regardless of frontiers."

Gog/CD Projekt are not Public authorities, they can interfere all they want in their own space. When it happens in public (which this privately funded forum is not), CD Projekt Red cannot censor you for your views, but nor can the Government. On a publicly funded board (e.g. run by the Government and paid for by taxes), CD Projekt Red would not be able to censor you, but crucially, neither can the Government. That is what Freedom of Speech/Expression is protecting, your right to say things where the Government cannot interfere with it.

Honestly, if you don't know the difference between public authorities and private ones, I don't know what you're going to make of Cyberpunk's "Tear down the authorities, man!" and "Corps are more powerful than god." aesthetics.

Fr0z1nDuDe: Oh really? There is an unspecified law in the EU that prohibits you, the police, and private security to remove unwanted individuals from your private property. That. Is. Fascinating.
avatar
Arachnarok_Rider: Now you're simplifying excessively. Sure, the comment they made was not very specific, but too much simplification does not help much.
Sorry. I was being sarcastic to acaman because he made a poor argument.

So the bottom line, in EU, US, and any civilized country, if an unwanted person is being a nuisance on your private property. You can call the police to have said individual removed. All the while the said individual is screaming "free speech free speech".

With corporate entities, they hire private security to enforce their rules on their private property.

With forums, moderators are basically security personnel. They can delete threads and ban unwanted users that violate their rules, which does not break any laws.

It's insane that this is being argued at all.

Well the world had been hijacked by the insane over these last 5 years or so. It will be nice to see the madmen fall and we can work to heal the mentally damaged people that fell for all their lies, and show them why a game being delayed is not a reason for them to dump in their pants and cry like babies. We can teach them how to be boys that will grow into actual men and not stay man-babies their whole lives :)

Hey, know what you should do?

You should totally report this to the police. They will be really impressed by your understanding of the law :)

Private companies are subject to the same laws as everyone else. They are not allowed to censor free speech unless it advocates violence against a person or group. So ill say it again. If I said I dont like gay people thats free speech. If I then added they should all be shot in the face thats not free speech and can be shut down. Do you see the difference. One is my opinion the other is advocating violence against a group simply because they exist.

Your argument is ridiculous. That's like saying the government is the only one who has to abide by the gender equality act and private companies don't. Its ludicrous and I honestly think you need to research the subject because you've already made a 19th century ass out of yourself.

The part where it says "regardless of frontiers" now includes the internet. You cannot censor free speech because you don't like it you can only censor it because its illegal.

The internet and these forums are not private property. They are public domain. ANYONE can access them.

"I disagree with what you say but I defend to the death your right to say it" - Voltaire.

Its the equivalent of a restaurant serving rotten/improperly cooked food and then removing all the reviews that called them out on it.

Yeah, good luck to you trying to create a new topic or write a new post in these forums without having to create a GOG account.

Oh, and btw, if you ARE creating a new account, you're automatically accepting GOG's ToS, as well as Code of Conduct for these forums.

The code of conduct/ToS does not supersede the law. Good luck with that one though.

"IF I KEEP SAYING THE LAW WORKS THE WAY I WANT IT, THAT MAKES IT SO!"

"Now, that's just not how..."

"I'M NOT LISTENING TO YOU!"

This continued for several hours.
Thank you lace_gardenia.

It seems the slow kid in the class needs a bit of help. You know when you watch your favourite streamer or lets player on Twitch or YouTube? Do oyu know what they are doing is actually illegal? Its called copyright law which states that you are not allowed to broadcast the game without the owners permission.

To give you another example, if a cop chooses not to give you a ticket for going 41 in a 40, does that mean speeding is no longer a crime?

Look at Reddit and Twitter. People have had their posts deleted simply because someone doesnt like what they have to say. It doesn't matter that they are not violating the law, its not considered PC or acceptable.

I received a 2 year ban from the official forums because I said that gay people shouldn't demand representation in a video game. i also poked fun at CDPR's slogan of "we leave the greed to others" when they announced microtransactions. 2 fucking years. but by all means keep telling me how China are the real problem. When people cannot tolerate having their actions criticized there is something wrong with society.

Just because Sony, Bethesda or any other company choose not to come after you does not mean you are not violating the law. Do you get it now? or do you need me to write it down in crayon for you?

But I'm fully prepared for this post to be removed by some left wing latte drinking snowflake licking liberal who's skinny jeans are on too tight and it cuts the circulation off to their brain.
